The performance of the year (after Casey Affleck) for me is Amy Adams in Arrival; so powerful, raw and heart-breaking. It is a tour de force in acting and definitely her career best. Then Huppert for Elle/Things to Come, followed by Portman for Jackie. Emma Stone is very good as well.
