"Omkara!" Om heard this voice from behind and quickly threw the cap of the injection that he was holding with his teeth.
How stupid could I be to not bolt the door before reaching out for this
"Mr. Oberoi, Mom,! what are you both doing here?" Omkara asked with a stammer
"I think the question should be ours, what are you doing" Tej glared at Omkara "What exactly are you doing with your life", he continued after a pause
No he means something else, he couldn't have seen me taking drugs
"Why are you asking this, I was just relaxing a bit", Omkara replied with a puppy face which was generally the characteristic of Rudra
"What else have you done in your life till date", the tone of Tej had a sudden change "You have only relaxed yourself and played with mud. I never thought that my son could have such useless interests"
"This is my hobby, my passion Mr. Oberoi", Omkara replied with a sigh of relief, "And who better than you can understand that, your passion was to do business, for which you forgot everything including your wife and your family, similarly I have deeply engraved in my passion to forget your business. There is an old saying- Like father, like son"
"Business was not just my passion, it was my duty to support my mother, my wife, my family. It was my responsibility, but I am sure you wouldn't understand, and what did you say like father like son, I wouldn't have even done what you are about to do" The last line of Tej had some strange sarcasm which Om couldn't decipher. "I meant wasting your life in this manner,", he continued "Lets leave Jahnavi, its no use of trying to put some brains into this man, now its high time to simply order him rather that wait for his free will"
Tej left the room with a fierce glance at Om banging the door behind.
Om sat on his bed closing his eyes for a moment and then reached out to the glass of water which was present at the side table and gulped the entire glass in just one breadth
Hah and people feel that I am the only one who has guts to stand in front of Tej Oberoi, They should have really seen my inside. Just his presence in my room haunted me today.
Thankfully he didn't see anything he shouldn't have
Om seemed much more calmed after now. He reached out to the syringe, surprisingly the urge to take the drug had suddenly vanished now, he just wanted to throw the syringe to such a place that the bell boy doesn't find it the next day while dusting his room. He picked up the cap of the syringe and was about to reach to the syringe when he sensed another hand. Surprised he looked up to find the man who always claimed to be his father
"Did you really think you could have hid from me?" Tej said while picking up the syringe. "No! how could I think so", replied Om, "Can anyone hide anything from Mr. Tej Oberoi? You eyes are pretty vigilant, I should have expected this from you"
Sorry Om I couldn't up with something better, offence anyday is the best defense
"Well you don't even have an idea what Tej Oberoi could do.", retorted Tej in a voice which made it difficult for Om to stand in front of him. "But a father can do much more for his son."
Omkara looked at Tej with an strange expression, like some mixed feelings of fear, anger, affection and thousands of other feelings. "Why so surprised Omkara?, Tej continued, "You might not care for our relations, but a father can never stop performing his duties. A father knows the child in and out. It wasn't difficult for me to understand that you were hiding something after seeing your expressions then"
For a moment Om went into a standstill position, he didn't know how he should react to this. The man who was supposedly his father and from whom he had no expectations was standing in front of him as the person whose eyes that genuine concern. His stature could never scare him but the disappointment in his eyes was haunting him. But then does a concern of a single day mask the wrongs of years...
