I see so many people saying Anika's character has been butchered, she has lost her dignity...become a doormat and most popular one is "Abla Naari"
I really want to know wat is an Abla Naari? Why is the term 'Abla' always associated with women? Why can't a Man be an "Abla Mard"
This post is not about Om but just to take him as an example...A Mard who attempted suicide twice seeing conflicts in family and wen he supposedly committed some crime but never tried resolving those issues? ...A truthful guy who never lied but still hiding such a big crime (doesn't matter he did it or Priyanka...but a partner in crime and someone who hides a crime is an equal culprit) and resorts to DRUGS? I call such a Mard and Abla Mard! a Mard who found the most easiest escapes of some Drug Addictions or Attempting to Suicides instead of facing the problems in life is wat is actually Abla ! Who is neither being able to help himself nor his sister is what is Abla...someone who is going against his own ideologies n Principals of forever siding by the truth and hiding such a big truth from his family and the world is an Abla Mard! Those who have got no fighting spirit in themselves, is synonymous to Abla!
And biggest Abla Mard is that who lived with a girl for years in some other country, came back, kept the relationship going but never made a commitment and again took the decision of living in with her and it just took 2 mins for him to insult and throw that girl out of his heart and life and the house where he himself welcomed her...just coz of some papers? No second chances to the girl who showed so much patience and kept waiting for him to commit? Truly an Abla Mard in my eyes!
And people say its Shivay and Anika whos character is assassinated 😆 Abla has become Synonymous with Anika 🥱
Above was just my pov on what Abla is! Om was just an example here since many people love calling Anika an Abla Naari but still do not find faults with Om! I'd seriously want to know what is the definition of an Abla Naari here if Anika is being called one?
Coming to Anika...why is she being the way she is! I do not completely defend her actions but I got a few things to say which any girl might relate to or just from a viewer perspective:
1) She was an orphan who lived alone all her life, had no one apart from a young little brother who was her life n responsibility...She worked all alone all her life, a hectic life which she herself confessed once that she didn't have time to die, let alone love! It requires guts being a girl to live in this society with no elderly hand on ur hand and truly no one to call ur own...and a Bua like Sundari who would leave no chance to make her life hell !
But she fought with everyone and made a living for herself and her brother and even that Bua who shamelessly lived on her hard earned money.
She started working for the Oberois! Found all the love and respect even though she was just another employee over there! She mingled in their family affairs and they also always appreciated her and made her feel a part of the family, yes, they even said 'She is family'.
2) Dadi was always by her side...Anika, who craved for parents' love all her life found that image of a parent, a guardian in Dadi...Dadi also always had a special bonding with Anika...she always sided by Anika, appreciated her, showed trust in her work and accepted her as she was...helped Anika in her times of need and Anika was indebted to her forever...it was for her brother...first his house (though I don't consider this coz house was slyly taken by Shivay) and second was for Sahil's Education Loan! Dadi always showed blind faith in Anika and made Shivay bring her back everytime she left!
This was one of the reason that Anika did not even once think of staking her honor for this family, Dadi and for Shivay, whom obviously she couldn't see going behind the bars for a false accusation coz she truly knew he was innocent...she showed tremendous guts here!
3) OmRu always treated Anika like their sister...they were the ones who always wanted Anika as their Bhabhi and were true Shivika Shippers... Rudra went to the extent of calling her Didi...never treated her like just a wedding planner, always made her feel a part of the family...always advocated her infront of Shivay...she felt the connect too!
4) Shivay: The only guy in her life, she felt for...they both had a connect from the first time they met...he hated her guts and she hated his haughty attitude...but hate and fights slowly converted into deeper feelings of likeness, fondness, trust...feelings and emotions kept changing over time and both started feeling a deeper connect...both reached a point where both had feelings of love, respect and trust in each other and she always wanted him to confess...yes she made efforts that somehow he would show those guts and confess his true feelings to her while he kept running away coz of his preconceived notions, his beliefs and ideologies!
But they both had so much trust in each other that came a point wen he left his bride at altar at just her one call...and she was always ready to do anything for him n his family...truly dedicated!
She helped his family where she could even though the same man who she loved insulted her and misunderstood her many times and asked her to leave, but she came back everytime, only to help, and grew in his eyes, he started believing her, he started to show greater trust in her by always agreeing to her (that one incident where he agreed for Ganpati Visarjan on her insistence), started to side by her and caring for her!
Their destinies were tied to each other so they ended up doing so many rituals together, from the Chunri Rasam in the first episodes to the KC ritual to the Diwali Pooja and many more!
She was broken wen he got officially engaged to Tia and declared his marriage...but she never gave up...always showed guts and with full determination and all her dedication, made best of arrangements for the wedding of his love, with someone else...this requires a lot of courage honestly and she did all this!
She was ready to see him get married to someone else but little did she know, Destiny had something else in mind and it played its game and she got married to him instead of the girl he was supposed to get married to! Yes, he forced her, blackmailed her, kidnapped the most precious thing in her life and made her agree for the marriage...keeping these things aside, Truth Is She Got Married To The Man She Truly Felt For, The Man She Loved ! (I know many feel it was no love but I feel it was love for sure...much deeper than just love...) She got the love of her life and I know for a face, getting married to the one you truly love, is the best feeling ever! And she knew he did not harm her brother, was a sigh of relief for her!
5) Now talking from any normal girl's perspective...I would say...no girl, absolutely no girl in India (I say in India coz yeah, other cultures might be different ) would want to just let go of her marriage like that. Any girl, from any class, however modern she might be or educated she might be, might have traveled the world or however much successful and established in her life n career, would let go of her marriage like that!
I can vouch for this through some real life cases too,...but talking about Shivika for now, Anika, a girl who hardly ever had a family, any relations and a man in her life,...suddenly has everything...to top it all, she is a girl for whom Marriage is a Sacred Relation, MS, Sindoor are not mere accessories or Fashion for her, she truly and deeply believes in them and won't mock them like that,its not easy to just take them off like that, yes she is doing all that for Dadi but she also truly believes in it, realizes that she is married now, life has changed and is different now and she has certain responsibilities and a family's name and honor attached to her!
People are annoyed with her for not taking off the MS and for doing the Post Marriage Rituals coz she said she doesn't believe in this marriage, but subconsciously she does, any girl would...who would not like to give a try and make their marriage successful...its easier said then done! Wen people say she should give him divorce and walk out, or just leave him and walk away as he has declared another woman as his wife! I thought a lot about it and felt, walking away is no way an option, If i were at his place, and he was the man I loved but he forced me into the marriage by taking a wrong route, I would stay in his life, and not leave him, not divorce him....coz he wanted to marry me, now bear me in ur life, as ur wife...not everything can be as per his wish! Plus he is the man she loves and she also is aware of the fact that he is gonna fall into a pit...the other woman in his life is upto something big and is already married, has some ulterior motives!
She already showed a lot of guts by first telling him a direct No for this marriage even though she loved him, then running away and then going ahead for the wedding for her brother's sake, requires a lot of courage and guts!
Anika is a girl with a simple life, a no nonsense girl with a kind heart n no malice in it, she loves Shivay, truly cares for him and now that she is married to him, cannot see him falling off a cliff like that...she is there to hold his hand and save him when Tia pushes him from the cliff!
Plus, in all this, ITS JUST BEEN ONE DAY of her marriage as per the show's timeline...she has gone through a lot in this one day, watching the love of her life get married, then Tia running away and Richa walking away too...Shivay forcing her and then blackmailing her through Sahil, For a second that feeling that she lost Sahil, Shivay marrying her and then Oberoi Family's reaction, outburst, Tia coming back, Shivay declaring Tia as his wife and not her...Shivay's non acceptance of the marriage! Plethora of emotions here in just 24 hours or a little more!
She needs to be given time...she has found some support and backing in that house and once she gets settled, she gets adjusted and used to the new environment and relations, she will be back to the same fiery Anika...the same girl who gives back more than wat she gets, love, hate or insult 😆
People compare her to Gopi Bahu, but no girl, no female on TV has absolutely given back like Anika does...She has her own sweet and Unique ways of giving back to each person that needs a dose of her Anika style Tadibaazi...She in the most subtle way, gave back to Shivay by telling him that one day he would Care, wen his most precious thing is taken away from his and the most important decisions of his life will be taken by someone else.! She broke down and her break down broke him into a million pieces, coz he loves her too, and he was helpless and blinded by some misunderstandings and some beliefs, cannot even comfort her, he lost that one moment!
She walked out saying she feels suffocated with him and slept besides the pool all night...he couldn't sleep on his King Size Bed too, slept in the same posture by a wall and both must have together got some back pain 😆
She did not cry on the day of marriage neither after that...she broke down much later, only after Shivay declared Tia his wife...and even that break down was not of an Abla Naari, it was of a woman telling the man she loved but who forced her into marriage, that Karma would come back to bite him ! She did not cry for his sympathy, she cried seeing the man she loved do all this to her and that her brother was used as a weapon against her as he was her weakness! Not crying after bearing so much requires a lot of courage too and after all this behaving so normal with the same man again and doing post wedding rituals with him knowing he has already declared someone else his wife...is truly the most brave act by her, don't know wats so Abla about her here!
She gives back to Tia with words like calling her cheapdi, shameless girl who is already married but still muh utha kar chali ayi in Oberoi Mansion! She twists her ankle and tells her that she is here in the Mansion after being insulted in wholesale, doesn't go back to her husband who must be waiting for her in his house, she told her this is not even her Sasural and she should go back and sort her own life instead of creating a mess her (Raita phailao and sameto dialogues ).
Anika would refuse to apologize to Tia wen Shivay asks her to do so...he would keep losing to her everytime which would only make him go more mad at her!
Plus most importantly, Always screaming and shouting or hitting each other is not giving back, giving back can be done silently too which is more effective, like Anika does! She is giving back to Shivay with her Silent Treatment...Silence is the biggest weapon you can use on the people you love and who loves hearing you, even though u scream in anger or talk good things, those are the people who would do anything to hear u speak and wen you stop speaking, your silence kills them and drives them crazy! She is killing Shivay by being Indifferent to him! He declares it aloud, in open that he doesn't believe in this marriage and doesn't accept Anika as his wife...and she just says the same thing calmly, and his face becomes worth watching! He cannot bear her silence, her indifferent behavior and her rejection! Yes she is giving it back silently now, giving back with her strong words too...and will give back with more intensity in the coming days by making him realize the truth!
Gul long back said, Anika would refuse to accept the Oberoi Surname....that would be the biggest give back of Anika to Shivay, a hard blow at his Notions of Middle Class Girls marrying rich guys for money and trapping them for their Family Name and Fame!
As for Shivay, even his character has not been assassinated to glorify Anika as Shivika story was always about a ruthless, cold-hearted businessman, top business tycoon who can do anything for his interest...he always warned Anika, you don't want to see the bad side of Shivay Singh Oberoi...he truly meant wen he said that!
The first few episodes where he bought Anika's house, made her lawyer run away or took away her tender, the whole three day challenge was just a glimpse of how cunning n merciless Shivay Singh Oberoi can be for his family n family name!
Anika also never told about that challenge to Dadi or OmRu, she kept wat was between her and Shivay always between them, she never asked for their help in the matter even wen Shivay kept misunderstanding her...even now she is not telling the entire family about whatever Shivay did to her and how he made her agree to the wedding...! She ain't being any Abla Naari, she never did in the past nor doing it now!
The only thing I'd like Anika to take a stand right now and even Dadi for that matter is throwing Tia out of the Mansion as not being the official wife, she got no rights to stay in the same house as Shivay, not even in the guest room! And I am hoping Tia would be thrown out soon, last episode very much hinted so...love the way she goes mad everytime reminds her of her Marriage with Dushyant! Feels like she would do something so stupid in her self declared competition with Anika that she would end up being thrown out of the house soon!
This is the story of a ruthless Shivay Singh Oberoi and an Independent girl Anika...Shivay would would change for good and Anika who would change for the better and grow stronger and none have been butchered, their characters have just been explored to the deepest, only to go through a transformation of hearts ! And through this post, just wanted to convey, Anika is anything but an Abla Naari!
Sorry for an ultra long post but had to state this about Anika as too much of disappointment is being shown in her character!
