trailer was bad,causing negative buzz,film itself was messed up,with confusing storytelling,bad pace,bad bad editing,album was good but not the mass appealing type,rk himself had a negative buzz around due to besharam and roy,director faltered too bigtime.

Ranbir is a very limited actor in terms of genre change... His acting was pathetic..

I think budget definitely played a huge role, in the movie tanking.wven if the movie was good, due to its niche audience, it would have flopped anyways...
Another thing, I don't think it was a bad movie. There was just too much story for it to fit in one feature film. Too much detail and not enough time to capitalize on them.So ofc, no matter what, at the editing table, the movie suffered and on the whole it lost out. I remember harshvardan saying BV should have been a mini series a la BBC. I kinda agree with that.
