I watched the episode. Alright, I muted some portions of it I admit. But I watched it.
They say that if you are prepared for a situation, you are ready to face it a bit more. It is probably that, 'coz surprisingly, I did not see what most of you saw in the episode.
In today's episode, I saw a Shivaay Singh Oberoi who believed strongly that all people in the middle class strata of society were opportunists doubt the same fact when it came to a particular someone. Today I saw a Shivaay Singh Oberoi who was broken beyond belief when he realized that his heart's belief had been wronged. Today I saw a Shivaay Singh Oberoi who slapped Om for hurting himself some time ago, hurt himself because he couldn't bear the pain that a particular someone inflicted on him. Today I saw that Shivaay Singh Oberoi, and then he became THE Shivaay Singh Oberoi again.
I know a lot of us felt terrible about his reaction today. I did too. How the hell can he believe Daksh? Like how the hell? But think about it. Is it that unnatural? From an audience perspective, we have seen Daksh for the last few episodes (seen what he is completely capable of) and our judgement of the situation is from that perspective. We are enraged that Shivaay chose to believe Daksh who has been here since the last 3 weeks over Anika who has been here like forever. And Daksh is so cheap, how can he believe him? But is that Shivaay's perspective? No. Daksh is someone Shivaay has known for much longer than he has known Anika. Why shouldn't he believe Daksh over Anika? He has always believed Tia over Anika, why not Daksh?
I don't accuse Shivaay of lapse in judgement in this case. There are some people in your life that you take for granted, and accept for who they are. We all do. For instance, Om / Priyanka may have murdered someone. They hit a girl with their car and ran away from there. Is that any less of a crime than someone taking advantage of a girl? If Om's truth is revealed tomorrow, will be expect Shivaay to abandon him completely? Then why expect that of him when it comes to Daksh?
Why is Shivaay not doubting Daksh?
Because he has no reason to. Daksh has been shown to be friends with Shivaay since a long time. His entire family knows him, and daadi even defended him when Anika doubted him as being her stalker after the first attack. So, Daksh falling this low is a new to everyone, including Shivaay. He may have become like this after meeting Anika. Shivaay knows that Daksh has crazily fallen in love with Anika. He knows it is odd and he has pointed it out several times, but beyond that, it is not a crime. However, Anika accepted his proposal. He then understood from Daksh that he had no intensions of marrying Anika. I also wondered why he didn't ask Daksh to leave the house after yesterday's episode. Again, it was because Daksh is his friend. Shivaay may not approve of his ways, but that doesn't diminish the fact that they are friends. He warned him not to do anthing against Anika's wishes. He said several times that she wasn't that kind of a girl. But Daksh promised that he wouldn't force anything on Anika, and that he would do everything with her consent. Shivaay did not feel comfortable about it, and forced Anika to leave. As much as he detested Daksh's views, he had no reason to doubt a friend. He did not approve of his ways, but why distrust him? He had no reason for it.
What went wrong for Anika?
2 things really
- Firstly, the fact that Shivaay may have attributed his connection with her to be a casual attraction, and maybe Anika thought the same, but with her acceptance of Daksh's proposal, it became evident to the both of them that what they shared was much more than sheer attraction. For once Shivaay realized that despite trying several times, his heart had won over his head.
- Secondly, with no idea of what conversation had happened between Daksh and Shivaay, Anika went about her chores like normal. And that normalcy in her behavior gave a completely different impression to Shivaay. He would never believe it had he heard it from someone else. But he saw it, and there was no going back. In the minute, as confused as he was, as hurt as he was, he realized one thing. That by letting his heart win over his head (even if it was unknowingly), he had been fooled. So, he forced himself to think from his head again.
I give tremendous credit to Shivaay for wanting to disbelieve what he saw even after he saw it. That tells me that he will listen to his heart again. Maybe not immediately, but soon enough.
The High's
- Shivaay's confusion, his anger, his angst - so many emotions in one episode, yet all delivered with perfection. Kudos
I cannot think of any other high in this episode. I am glad I could think of one
The low's
- The entire plot. The way Anika's character is being malined at the moment is hard for any girl to digest. I wish it ends soon
- Daksh walking off from here simply because Shivaay announced his wedding was a bit mehhh. This guy is supposed to be obsessed with this girl, and this is a new found obsession. I doubt someone in this position will take leave a place and go away. Maybe he is not leaving, but that doesn't make sense either. Anika is willingly marrying him, why mess it up? Particularly now when he knows the impact anything to do with Anika has on Shivaay. He should not have left Anika's side till Shivaay got married. I mean, it was necessary for the story, but I wish they had shown it differently.
- Like someone pointed out in another thread, they forgot Rudy with the psychodevi. Poor guy. Bring him back safe and sound soon.
- How many rooms does Daksh have in the Oberoi Mansion? I don't remember seeing a big screen and all pics and scary set up in his room when Sowmya and Anika were there. Really creepy guy, or the writers thought we would forget about the scary set-up from last night.
All in all, it wasn't my most favorite episode, but it wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be. I had assumed that I would hate Shivaay after the episode. Surprisingly, I don't. I still like him.
PS - I am not Shivaay's defense lawyer and am not defending him. I like Anika, Om, Ru, Sowmya, daadi everyone just as much. But I had expected that Shivaay would get a lot of hate from everyone today (including me), but I just want to say that I still believe and trust the guy. He will come around.
