Mamaji is an excellent man but for me he is the biggest failure.
I do not blame Dev at all where his mother is concerned.
He is trying to balance between wife and mother to the best of his ability. I feel sympathy for him for the tight rope he is walking.
Dev just feels that he has everyone's responsibility and he just wants to give love to everyone, sometime more to one person and then more to another.
However it is Mamaji's weakness that has made things difficult for Dev and Sona
1) he could never teach his wife the right things. people blame Dev for not being able to say anything to his mother. Mamaji is at bigger fault here as he has never been bale to control his wife or sister.
2) he knows that his wife intentionally pokes his sister and manipulates her in ways against Sona. in fact I think Ishwari was better before they came to live there. She knowingly fuels ishwari's insecurities which Ish truly has but if mami was not there, it would not get provoked that much.
Mamaji has never said to ishu that her biggest enemy is his wife.
3) He has known Ishwari far longer than even Dev. He just has one to one conversation with his sister and thinks his duty is done. He actually has no influence on Ishu just like his wife.
he went and quickly told Dev about his mother not accepting Sona during the initial separation.
Why doesn't he openly go and tell Dev here that his mother is insecure and has trouble accepting her DIL. Show her true face. If he does it Dev is more likely to believe it.
But he just says good things to Ish and then gets manipulated by halwa promising that he will not tell dev anything about her weird behavior. He encourages to keep manipulating her son.
4) His son is a Gunda type, lazy bum. he is not able to get him sorted out.
When Ish forced Dev to give him the big position, he could have said that don't spoil my son, he needs to be better human being. But he did not. he just accepted it after thanking Dev
5) He can tell Dev how his wife and mother treat Sona when he is not at home.
If mamaji was a strong man, Dev and Sona would not be struggling for acceptance of them and their relationship in that house.
Have no doubts its not just Sona, but Dev who is also disrespected and constantly used by everyone in that house .
