I was a bit busy with many things at that time. I rarely came to IF. I occasionally used to read your posts. But I think that all this was towards the 200s when you were almost quitting. It was for that reason I never knew some of the regulars in your JA threads like Sandhya, Lashy at that time. Moreover I never stuck to a single forum for long at that period. I would pull up a Scarlett Pimpernel from the show and the forums if something did not please me or reach my benchmark.
CAS was a different story. I developed an attachment to the show such that even when nothing was working, I was unable to quit and stuck till the end. Aunty to tell the truth not all of us there were so unreasonable. It just happened that after Chanakya's death, the story and characters went from bad to worse. None of us had any problems with CAS in the beginning months. They took away Chanakya from us and gave us Karuwaki? What kind of justice or story telling was it? Ahankara was a better character but she was simply faded off.
All that was left of the show was KVK. We were very moderate and constructive in our criticism in the beginning even in CAS forum. It was only when they were unheard or disregarded that it roused the furies in us. I personally never liked KVK or Devi either as a reverse and opposite reaction.
Please imagine this Aunty. If the CVs of CN get rid of Chanakya in an atrocious fashion in the next four or five episodes, and all we are left with is Nand Putri Nandini. If that happens, even Nandini will invite the same kind of flak that CAS Kaurawaki did. Even though Swetha is not so bad as Sowmya in terms of acting, a similar scenario will repeat itself.
In JA too I think there were many who had problems with the undue importance given to Jodha at the expense of Jalal. What the CVs of CN need to take care is to protect and safeguard the USP of their show which is the Jodi of Chandrakya, and promote their brand which rests solely on Rajat and his acting. The political and historical intrigue threads are working for them. The minute they completely dispense with them for the love track and kitchen politics, CN will also suffer.
The audience of a historical fiction show is very different from an ordinary regular show. It is a comparatively learned and informed audience and their expectations from a show are also a bit different. Most of them want to see some amount of history, a good and racy narrative style, intriguing characters, fantastic performances by actors, etc. They will look for much beyond girl meets boy, takrar turns to pyar, a number of trip and catch sequences, marriage, misunderstandings, separation, reunion, misunderstanding...and so on. Such an audience cannot be fooled by giving the same redundant stuff recycled with a historical packaging.

The EDT in the CAS forum was totally lacking in influence because it was in a straightjacket of its own - acute dislike of Kaurwaki and the accompanying undue elevation of Devi - and the members never had anything to say about any of the good scenes in the show. The CVs were completely out of sync with this approach, and they called the shots. So the EDT members were all left talking to each other and patting each other's backs, and making jokes, at times distinctly off colour jokes.
