He was silent during the puja, he had a smile on his face but twinkle in his eyes were missing. She stole glances at him as they performed the veneration with their little cupid because of who they were united. As soon as the puja had come to its end she noticed Karthik slipping away without saying a word, the smile was now was wiped of his face thinking that no one was seeing him, she followed him quietly as possible to the garden area, she observed him, he was staring at the sky as if thinking of something and asking questions to it, she saw a lone tear escape from his eye.
"Karthik", she called out keeping a hand on his shoulder, he looked the other way for a second and wiped the tear away.
"Tum yahan bahar kya kar rahi ho", he asked
"Main tum se yeh puchne ayi thi", she replied
"Mausam acha hai bas isliya", he answered not making any eye contact.
"Kya hua Karthik puja ke waqt bhi maine notice kiya tum upset lag rahe the", she asked him
"Tum ne notice kiya mein upset hun, aur tumhe uss baath se farak bhi pada woh, mujhe toh laga tumhe meri feelings ki qadar hi nahi hai", he replied sarcastically
"Kya hogaya hai tumhe Karthik, aisi batein kyun kar rahe ho", she asked hurt
"Agar meri feelings ki parwah hoti apne pyaar ko sacrifice nahi karti. Kya tum ne meri taqleef nahi dekhi jab tum mujh se dur ja rahi thi. Nahi dekha ke mein undar se toot raha hun. "Aur hum dono ki khushi, uss ka kya. Tum yeh nahi chati thi ke tumhari gayu di ka dil totte kyun ke tum unse pyaar karti ho, unki care karti ho, lekin mere tutte hue dil ki koyi parwah nahi ki, toh mein kya samjhun, ke tum mujhe se na pyaar karti ho, na meri care karti ho.", He asked his voice filled with pain.
"Karthik tum samajh nahi rahe ho ke main ne kiss mindset mein yeh decision liya tha. Uss waqt halat kuch aise the ke mujhe laga ke yehi best tarika hai, sab ko khush rakhne ka", She replied tears now filling up her eyes as well.
