Sara Arjun addresses the debate around her 20-year age gap with Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar: 'I knew it was…'

The casting of Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun as the lead pair in Dhurandhar sparked a wave of reactions on social media, primarily focused on the 20-year age gap between the two actors. Sara has since responded to the discussion, stating that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that she respects differing viewpoints.

During an interview with NDTV, Sara, who starred alongside Ranveer Singh in the film, addressed the discussion surrounding the age gap. She defended the casting, stating that she always believed it was justified within the context of the story.

Sara said that she had gone offline ahead of the film's release, blissfully unaware of the online buzz about her age gap with Ranveer, and added that disconnecting from social media had helped her tune out the noise and stay laser-focused.

"All the noise (is) on social media, right? And I'm not very active. I didn't partake in it much... I also feel everybody has an opinion. I really believe in 'live and let live'... It's their opinion... It doesn't do anything to how I think... I knew the story, and I knew it was justified, and that's it," Sara said.

The actor praised Ranveer, saying she'd couldn't have asked for a better co-star than him in Dhurandhar, where she played a teenager opposite his mid-30s character.

"No matter who I work with in the future, I don't think anybody can top Ranveer, he has set the bar so high. As an actor, he's so involved in his own craft, but he also takes care of the whole set. He looks at it (filmmaking) as teamwork. He's equally involved in what you are doing, and equally involved in what the person on set was designing, the set is doing. So those things really matter. He carries all of us together," she added.

Abour Dhurandhar

Since its theatrical release on December 5th of last year, Dhurandhar has been a box office success. The action spy thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar, became the highest-grossing film of 2025, earning over ?1300 crore worldwide.

The spy thriller is set in Pakistan, with Ranveer portraying an Indian spy infiltrating terror networks based in Lyari. The film also features Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan in key roles. The second installment is scheduled for release in theaters in March 2026.
