Last few seasons there are more open nominations rather than secret nominations. Both have their advantages & disadvantages. I prefer the secret nominations.
Open nominations:
I agree it was dramatic and entertaining at first with wacky ways to nominate like darts, burning/shredding photo, breaking sugar bottle on the head, cream cake on the face. But it has lost it's novelty and now its just repetitive and boring. And there is a tendency to nominate obvious targets which most house mates are nominating just to be safe.
Secret nominations:
Since it is behind closed doors and secret, one gets to know the real game plan and strategies of each person. Whom they consider threats. One also nominates without being intimidated by the repercussions of open nomination.
