They have a movie too in the same name, but i thought Yang Yang did justice to Xiao Nai's character compared to the lead in movie...

I saw the movie too. The drama is definitely much better than the movie. The drama follows the book very closely and also has the advantage of having 30 episodes. The movie changed a lot of things and even the characterization of leads are different. The leads in the movie were nice, but the drama leads, especially Yang Yang nailed the character of Xiao Nai.

Yup.. I had issues with Xiao Nai's character in movie... the character seemed to tone down a lot, where as in drama his character was maintained through out... For example, the scene where Xiao Nai waits for Wei Wei for their 1st meet... It was really beautiful in the drama where as the lead in movie was smiling too much ... 😕😆

I dono.. may be my partiality towards yang yang can also be a reason for not liking the movie much 😆

Not just that particular scene...movie Xiao Nai was way too friendly and approachable. Xiao Nai is supposed to have this mysterious aura which is totally missing in the movie version. He was meant to be someone you can admire from afar but can't reach. Even Wei Wei was a bit different...She went and confronted Cao Guang in front of all those people. Wei Wei wouldn't cause a scene like that...not if she could avoid it.

Episodes 9 and 10 are my favorites in the whole series. 8 episodes of waiting...but their 1st meeting was totally worth it.

Totally agree with what you said... The characterisations were really pole apart...

I really loved their first meet and I liked the bond between the 4 roommates, be it the boys or the girls... quite interesting !

Oh yeah, I loved the bond between the friends. Even the subplots involving the friends were nice.
