So here I am with the detailed analysis of the Maha wedding of our beloved Devakshi as promised. As I stated in my prev post, I really liked the episode for its realistic approach and for the sheer hardwork the makers have put to create really what is called a "Mahaepisode" and not a mere filler one as it usually happens.

The Grandeur Entrance !👏

Must say this has to be one of the magnanimous entry for a serial groom I have seen. Such grand scale with a majestically royal looking Dev is a definite breathtaking eye catchy scene. The drones were used wonderfully capturing the beauty of the wedding hall and the crowd! No wonder the groom side was awestruck including the loud mouth Buaji taunting GKB 😆.

Ofcourse bride's brother take care of the guests and here our Cute Saurab takes charge much to the delight of the Dixit sisters who adore him as Dada as well😳

Legenga - Hypocrisy or Oblivious ? :

I am glad makers showed Sona had to visit the groom family for a "Shagun rasam" (I was wondering why she had to stride through to see them before the wedding ceremony) with a quick "Tilaki bengali rasam" for Dev. As expected every Dixit member is shocked to see a gorgeous looking Sona but not in their legenga . I will blame both Ishwari and Sona a bit here and not Buaji or Bose family. According to Bose family, Dixit's had agreed for a wedding with Bengali rituals and they are ought to follow that. And according to Bua its a disrespect because she is oblivious of such promise.

Whereas Ishwari should have communicated clearly to the Bose family about the legenga if she had intended Sona to wear that inspite of agreeing to Bengali tradition and Sona though not fully aware of the other tradition should have known about the legenga and its importance from Neha's marriage being a matured one! But I can't blame Sona here for hypocrisy because she is simply oblivious about the legenga and have no intention of hurting her in-laws family with her choice but inturn respected her family's which is not the case in Neha's!!

As usual our smart Mamaji saves the embarrassment by showing the Dixit ladies what really matters is not alta or mehendi or legenga or Banarasi saree but the happiness on their kids faces !! I also loved the fact how Buaji accepted this and blessed Sona whole heartedly (This is exactly how the elders behave ! )👏

The makers were brilliant showing the side stories of Ranveer and Saurabh not happy with the costly gifts opening up future tracks nicely.

The Magical Varmala :

Two pretty watchman or rather watchwoman 😆 waiting for "Joota chupai" was a cute scene, who were startled to hear the "ulu" sound and so is the entire Dixit clan. How realistic that scene was !!👏

We might have seen numerous movies and series to know a bit about different rituals but when it happens in reality we are tend to be surprised and so aptly shown with the Dixits . (Heck I myself get surprised to some of our own rituals even after attending so many marriages let alone intercultural one😆 )

And enters our gorgeous bride Sonakshi with her face hidden in "paan pathra" much to the delight and amusement of Dev. His expressions when Sona goes around him was praiseworthy😳 ! And my my , my heart skipped a beat when I heard "Kuch rang" track played when Sona shows her face to Dev..Such bliss to watch .. (can't ignore Ishwari's content here when she Dev all smiley..touchwood)

The varmala is definitely "Unique Devakshi" style which is the highlight of the entire episode undoubtedly. So much joy, so much naughtiness, so much love, so much respect all in one package. The entire sequence indicated no matter how much ever Dev's "Sena" tries to provoke him , he will always bow down to his queen's love and no matter how much ever his queen is demanding, he will for sure go out of his way to get her even by crook or hook😉 !! That little flick from Sona after Dev tricking her is a definite "Sharica" moment for me. (You guys won't believe how many offscreen bytes I watched after the episode where Erica hits him like that in his tummy, hand, etc etc, etc) 🤣

Now Vicky's "Mehnet" dialog to Elena had got me intrigued .. What is he intending, a mere crush or a committed marriage?🤔 If it is indeed marriage am all for it as it will be super dhamaka one with a comical twist for both GKB and us because Elena will be a right fit to straighten his dogtails without compromising her values!

An eyeopening Kanyadhaan:

A pride father at his best when he told his daughter is not a thing to give as "Dhaan" but his pride during "Kanyadhaan"!! Also loved how Bijoy demanded Dev "the same respect" for his daughter while Sona will shower "the same love and happiness" in their house.👏

Buaji and Mamiji mouthed vocally what in reality every in-law family would think except it won't be this vocal. But the way Mamaji opened their spiteful eyes for degrading DIL by comparing to their won daughter (Neha) was heartwarming. No wonder Ishwari and others caved in because he was indeed correct !!

Though we all wish that Dev voiced out something to soothe Bijoy, we should understand that in reality, no groom has the guts to open their mouth to their inlaws especially on their wedding day let alone Dev who just managed to get a "Yes" for marriage from his grumbling FIL😆 . He has all the time in the world to talk and console his family members after Sona is his rightfully.

Food fiasco:

I agree the entire sequence was overdone but as I stated in reality this is a much much bigger issue than portrayed onscreen. For a pure vegetarian to be sharing the same space is a very sensitive issue to their belief and I applaud makers for handling this as real as they can. If we watch closely Ishwari was fine feeding her guests till Buaji pointed out her "Dharm" of following their beliefs rather than blindly following her Son's requests. Even Buaji didn't snort at Asha the first time but rather strongly pointed that they should have considered others' feelings and avoided the non-veg food when Asha requested the second time. Ishwari handled the situation so well not wanting to hurt any soul there be it Buaji or Bose family, but of course she decided to give respect to her elder's word and avoided having the wedding meal despite mamaji's effort. I can't blame anyone here because everyone was right in their own stands !

And the rituals galore:

I loved the fact that inspite of having some displeasures , none of the members were against the union of Devakshi and all the rituals went ahead with smiles !

The "Gaudbaddhan" followed by the pheras to the seven vacchans to the "khoi -offering to Fire God to the Sindhoor ceremony to the "lojja bostro" , every minute details (be it Sona breaking something during the last phera or Dev holding Sona so lovingly while performing Khoi ) is a bliss to watch for a non-follower of both cultures like me.

I also came to know from wiki from "Mangalsutra" is not part of bengali wedding, so was not surprised the makers decided to edit it out. Even though it was not a 100% accurate rituals, am amazed with the amount of details they managed to show us as close to reality. Hats off to you CVs !!👏

Yes I never wanted this moment to end but what to do the reality strikes and the wedding is never over here and what difference it would have made from other serials if KRPKAB followed the same style 😉😆?!

Vidaai:

Frankly a very well done, composed , not over the top Vidaai. We are all so used to watching the dramatic crying scenes of Vidaai in movies and serials that we except a non-stop crying from entire family but in reality thats not the case. A family is just sad to see their daughter leave carrying a different identity whose love will be shared by one more family from now on and it comes out in the form of happy tears laced with inevitable truth of sadness.

Bijoy -Sona scene was heart touching , a father who says her to be strong as her home and her support system is still intact here even though she is married now. Every girl will be lucky if she have a family like Sona😳 !! Dev's final goodbye was whisked away 😡maybe CVs were wiping their tears and camera moved..😆

But that handhold of comfort from Dev to Sona in the car spoke more than million words of comfort. These small gestures steal our hearts!! (How the hell can this couple convey so many emotions with single handhold every time ?! Be it lust, love, care, comfort, pain..no wonder the makers are not thinking beyond a handhold )

Grahapravesh:

A lovely entry to hell for Sona with a visually pleased Ishwari , a snarky Mami, cutesy giggling Ria and Nikki and a lovely Neha hug. Very warming to watch except for Mamiji part of course .

If Sona- Nanad's bonding in future is going to be like what I watched in the episode , I am going to be delighted !!

Dev babu whether you like it or not . you will become "Joru ka ghulam" .. See even the game implied !

Frankly I would have loved the episode ending here and most of the disappointments would have been avoided but makers have decided to spice up things too fast that we got to see the fish drama.

Fish slipped from or to Hell?

Even after Saurab and Elena watching so closely, this fish managed to get caught and packaged beautifully to show some colors of Dixit family.

* Ishwari can never accept Sona for what she is or from where she is and she will always be Dev's toy.

* Dev can man up when he sees his love's sad face but at the same time can never reason his Maa when she is on "My house My way control mode ON"

* Mami can never stop sneaking into other's stuffs

* Mamaji can never stop trying fixing this madhouse's loosed brain nets.

* Sona will never be keeping quite to prove her innocence if fingers are pointed

* Saurab and Elena will bow down to any extreme to make Sona's life easier if the mistake is theirs even if it is done unknowingly.!!

Precap:

Devakshi: Ab to mera dil , Jaage na sota hai,, Kya karoon hayee, Kuch kuch hota hai ☺️

Ishwari : Hai qubool to aaja jaana, Daawat-e-Ishq hai, Ishq Hai😒

Mamiji : Aji jao ji jao ji galiyo mein dolo, Aji darwaja to kholo😡

Audience: Kuch tum socche, kuch hum socche, magar sabko mile Babaji ka thullu 😭😆

P.S:

* The episode can be a major disappointment if we watch with Buaji's eyes but will be a blissful experience if watched with Mamaji's eyes. I took the latter and its upto you whose eyes to take on to enjoy or to regret !!

* CVs you have won the battle with choosing an extremely talented cast and a unique storyline with a dedicated fandom but will loose the war in the race to TRP if you can't sustain these Victories. But I still trust you !!

P.P.S

Diksha darling as promised this post is dedicated to you for your undying open love. Hope the post justifies your waiting and reading time and lived up to your expectation😆.

Again thank you to every single one of you who waits for my posts and generous enough to let me know about the same. Feeling very much humbled and loved. Thank you !!

Thats a beautiful write up Deepa , loved it !!! Agree to most of the points . Varmala was really magical !!! Two people madly in love with each other , after a long journey of pain n heart break, they were going to unite that day , they dreamed of this day , and it was finally happening , that happiness and content on their face was just infectious , my favorite moment of the ME !!!

Regrading lehenga issue I am not fully convinced !!! Yes Ishwari should have communicated clearly , but this is not an arrange marriage , nor a love marriage in which bride is not very close to groom's family. Because of Neha's marriage she is well aware of all the customs ,and the importance of wearing wedding dress gifted by groom's family ! If you remember how she convinced Dev that he was wrong by agreeing to Neha , she told him " you cannot just say the grooms family you respect them , but can only show by ur gestures , and wearing the wedding dress is that gesture " , then her "apna lagogi" speech was very convincing not only to Neha but for Dev too , that he bought something special for her to wear on that day, so that he would feel like she belonged to him , so Sona really knows how much that gesture means to Dev . Even if she had forgotten, our impatient Dev's video call, in the previous day, should have reminded her . He was so eager to see her in the attire , and was requesting her to dress up ( That was a bold move from Dev😉, and his words "its only for ur own good , if I got excited and did something in front of every one when I see you for the first time , dont complaint". Ohhh How much that got me excited , I expected at least a compliment for Sona in secret , during the ceremony , but they hardly talked 😭 ) He also told her , "Mom is also not revealing anything , said its a surprise " which clearly indicated he and his mom thought she would be wearing the one gifted by Ishwari !! So forget about oblivious to customs , she would have worn it for Dev if not as gesture of respect to grooms family, her own words !!!

Yes whats Vicky's real intention , anyway I dont really trust this guy 😉 . Such an obnoxious creep 😉 !! Elena is better off him , but that would be shock of her life for GKB 😉

Kanyadaan - I loved Bijoy's words , he would have expected just a reassurance from Dev. But there a debate session started , I was wondering who would do a heated discussion than a "presidential debate " during a ceremony, 😆 . Dev was more brave in front of the camera it seems , he promised he would keep Sona happy always to the camera man during photo shoot ( hope you watched Sony 's lovely videos during DevAkshi wedding ) .

Veg-Non Veg drama , Fish fiasco , could have tolerated all this if there were enough DevAkshi moments to make up for it . TBH I was exhausted , and was relieved just like DevAkshi that finally its over , after the ME , At the end of the day they are married yaaayyy !!!

Thank you again for this wonderful write up, and bringing in the much needed positivity here !!!

Your post mirrors my exact thoughts. Hence I can't resist but comment here (rarely comment anywhere these days 😆)

I really liked the episode. Frankly, had the wedding sequence dragged with multiple eyelocks between Dev-Sona and other romance, it would've felt odd for me. Not that I'm against the romance 😆 but I always expect things to be different in this show and closer to reality.

For that reason, the wedding was beautifully captured with the right emotions brought out by the characters. Given how they were only given 10 days to prepare for the wedding, I think both the Dixit and Bose families managed what they can. Marriages are hard as it is, even when it is arranged, done in happier times, and within the same culture. Here we have a love marriage, two different cultures, and the elders on both sides aren't necessarily on good terms with each other either. However, everyone put their egos aside and came together to give the couple what they wanted.

Yes, there were some struggles and disappointments throughout the ceremony, But, it was resolved almost immediately afterwards as well. We had the right characters stepping up at the right time to make sure things go as smoothly as possible, be it Mamaji or Asha. In each family, you need people like them to balance and diffuse tough situations or else we'd all be a chaotic mess.

More than all this however, what I really liked was how the writers set the stage for what to expect post marriage. The lehenga conflict, fish drama, and the veg vs non veg issue. Given that this is a visual medium, these points had to be used to create an impact on the audience. The impact here being how "alag" the families are, and the fact that it's not going to be an easy road for Sonakshi or Dev either. It's not a happily ever after, walking into the sunset kind of feeling. Sonakshi always dreamed about a fairytale, where everything is perfect. The break-up opened her eyes to the fact that reality isn't an easy fairy tale. However, this marriage will definitely lead Sonakshi and Dev into building a tale of their own. And no matter how hard the road ahead is, they will have the support from different family members who would encourage them on their path (like at the wedding).

Oblivious to customs? Sona? After her Apna lagoge speech? Sorry. Won't agree with you. Iswari need not tell Sona the importance of the lehenga, She very well knows it. Still she preferred to please her parents but not her MIL or Dev.She did not bother to tackle the non veg issue also. She could have called Iswari and find out. She is a hypocrite.

Hey! I've been reading your analyses right from the beginning. But this time, I just HAD to comment. Because, you voiced out every opinion of mine. KRPKAB makers have always been vouchig for subtlety and that's what was shown in the Mahaepisode as well. Loved every bit of it. Because, let us face it, however happy the people getting married are, they can't keep on smiling throughout the wedding, right? Very naturally done by both the lead actors. Their comfort just makes me go aaah! The CVs shoud seriously do something and exploit thisnatural chemistry that the leads share.

The only thing I hope for now is they do not turn it into a Saas-Bahu OTT drama. I still want Sona to work. To speak for herself. Have her own opinios. Dress up the way she wants and demand of Dev the support she needs. That would really e something new to watch on TV.

And Dev and Sona would remain with each other through thick and thin. About this I have no doubts.

Thanks for such a wonderful post. Keep coming up with more!
