The way I see it, Avni is trying to be her Papa - or act like one with her Mumma -so that she has her attention. Her Mumma (that is, Asha) is a very self absorbed person - who is always in la la land. She seldom confronts reality. So what does Avni do to bring her focus to every day events? She behaves like her Papa by constantly hugging and kissing her. Her Papa is never with them and for the brief time that he is - this is how he behaves with her Mumma. Her Mumma is very happy when her Papa does this to her. So Avni mirrors her Papa's actions.
