Naamkarann aired its 14th episode today, Tuesday, September 27, and it was the phenomenal performance by Reema Lagoo that gave the episode its hankie-filled moments.
In the scenes when she tumbled out of the car and fell on the ground all hurt and broken, and gasping for air; and later when she was shaken to the core by seeing Ashish's pictures with Asha-n-Avni all plastered over Avni's house while Asha nonchalantly talked to Ashish; when she saw Avni to be a mini-image of herself; her anger at Ashish's treachery; not picking up his phone; collecting herself before her conversation with Hemant Bhai; and finally all shattered seeking solace at Devi Maa's shrine - were so beautifully done.
Ah! Reema Lagoo - you outshone yourself!
Her frustation, sadness and anger is so palpable. No matter however - you may view it - Ashish is a treacherous son. Not because he has a relationship with Asha - but because he hid it from his mother for 12 years; hoodwinked her into believing that he is all goody-goody and made her get into this situation with Hemant Bhai and Neela!
Asha may pray and ask Allah for requests - but she is selfish to the core and more treacherous than Ashish because she coerced him into this situation! She coerced him into living a lie and having a child in stealth!
Today, Asha showed how selfish and insensitive she is towards others when she asked her kind neighbour why she did not have kids (or something to that effect). How could she? What is she made of? The neighbour is so kind, protective and caring of Asha - and Asha is so uncouth towards her!
I am eager to see Daya's upheaval tomorrow and perhaps a glimpse of her story. Many actors have played the role of parents whose heart has been broken by their kids on soaps, and I was expecting the same old, same old story. But what sets this apart is the heart and emotional pull brought by Reema Lagoo!
