What is Sufi Rock ?

I love rock music, but western rock. Now I've been listening to 'Bulleya' from ADHM on repeat and I keep hearing the term Sufi Rock thrown around. A complete genre of music has escaped me. 😳.

So what exactly is Sufi Rock ? And more importantly what are your favorite Sufi Rock songs. So hit me with them, people ! Thanks.

Sufism based songs sung to rock tunes

A fair few Junoon songs from 90s were sufi rock songs. Lal Meri Path comes to mind

It's probably my favorite genre. So soulful

Edit: not exactly rock but sufi song dastan -e ishq by ali zafar for coke studio is absolutely brilliant.

Makes me wish so badly that he leave acting and return to singing full time. Rockstar is hilarious 😆

it's like fusion of classical sufi music(islamic music) with rock n pakistani band junoon use dis term sufirock as subgenre of rock in a way seems dis term is used to define paksitani band junoon who does fusion of rock with sufi.

I absolutely love Sufi songs or of any relevant genre be it rock. Sufi songs are beautiful, soulful and totally magical. Its beauty lies in their lyrics. Completely divine.

Laal meri path is my absolute favorite. Bulleya is also slowly growing on me now.

Switch to Kailash Kher, AR Rahman, Junoon, Zeb and Haniya, Abida Parveen if you are interested.
