Hi guys,
I am so sorry for such long gaps between my updates... Right now I have just too much on my plate.
There was a Sunday I planned to update one of the stories, sadly there was a power cut for the day in my town. Apologies for the false hope.
Thank you all for the wonderful feedbacks... hope you continue to enjoy the story
The scene where Ragav is playing with his child and Kalpi as his wife is a dream sequence... I think I shall write dream sequences or flash backs in italics... Hope I remember 😆
Please ask away if something I have written is not clear... Thanks
Chapter 3
Hearing a commotion downstairs, Ragav sighs, thinking, "what now?" As he heads out of the guest room.
Hugging the pillar in the lounge tightly, Maya yells, tears streaking down her cheeks, "I will not leave... Not unless Ragav asks me to."
"How dare you be so shameless... After everything you have done and schemed... " Neetu retorts angrily as raises her hand to slap Maya.
"Mum. Stop." Ragav calls out, as he races down the stairs. His gaze hard.
Both turn towards the stairs... Ones gaze begins to fill with hope... Ones gaze begins to fill with dread...
Ignoring the sharp pain in his heart as he walks towards them, his gaze on his mum, he pleads, "mum, please stop." Swallowing deeply, Neetu stares into eyes filled with agony, ready to do anything to ease his pain. Nodding affirmatively, she gives a weak smile, saying, "I am sorry. I..." Clasping his mum's hands with his, Ragav says, "please don't apologize."
Turning to the butler, Ragav instructs, "please return Maya's belonging back to her room." He takes a step towards the entrance. Seeing that Ragav was planning on ignoring her, Maya stretches her arm towards him as she releases her hold of the pillar.
Feeling a hand on his arm, Ragav stops mid stride, places his hand on it, releasing its hold and says without turning, "not now Maya... I am not in the frame of mind to converse with you... We will talk soon."
Not wanting to miss this opportunity, Maya ignores his request, rushes up to him, placing her hand on his arm and says softly, "please Ragav... Please hear me out... Please let me explain why I did what I did... I don't want you to continue agonizing over why I did it..."
Ragav grits his teeth... every fiber in his body refusing to turn to face his wife... standing motionlessly waiting for what Maya has to say as he hardens his heart... shielding himself.
Refusing to be discouraged, Maya stops in front of him, her gaze imploring him to be understanding, says in earnest, "Ragav I lied because I was afraid..." pausing for the words to sink in. Linking her fingers with his she continues, "I loved you... love you so much. I couldn't bear for you to leave me... I couldn't bear that you would love another."
Ragav's gaze snaps up, staring into her eyes, confused, thinking, "what the hell is she talking about?" Gazing into his questioning gaze, Maya continues, "there was a time when you were distant...". Releasing his hand from her grip, he gazes at her with narrowed eyes and says in an accusatory tone, "and your solution was false pregnancy!"
Striding out of the house, an urgency in his step as Ragav recollects the memories of the incident.
Dejected, Ragav sighs deeply. Sammy looks at him with concern and says, "we did our best." Staring out of his office window, broodingly watching the sun rise. Ragav's body slumps.
Turning to Sammy he says, "I give up." Then continues angrily, "why can't we find the evidence... will we be able to bear the brunt of being kicked out of the business committee..."
"Let's deal with the consequences as and when they come," Sammy says, "no point in brooding over it from now."
Nodding, Ragav says, "you are right. Call a staff meeting for two in the afternoon. I shall make the announcement then." Ragav grabs his coat and briefcase and says, "am heading home to discuss this with mum and Pakhi."
On his way home, Ragav's phone rings. Reading the caller ID, he debates whether to answer the call or not. As he debates... should I... shouldn't I... the call disconnects. His phone rings again immediately. Reading the caller ID, he frowns with concern, thinking, "maybe it is something urgent." He looks for a spot to park his car to take the call.
Infusing a false light hearted tone, Ragav answers his phone.
Forehead creased he rushes to Maya's home. Seeing his at the door, Maya rushes forward, grabbing him tight, happiness emanating from her. Smiling with relief, Ragav hugs her back, her infectious smile making him forget his worries. "Baby I am pregnant," Maya says with joy, "can you believe it... pregnant. I just love how fate always guides us to the next stage in our lives." Holding his hands in hers, she gazes into his eyes and says, "can you believe it... we shall be parents soon."
He stares into eyes shinning with happiness, love, trust... mirroring his emotions... he places a trembling hand on her womb... lightly caressing it... thinking... my baby, our baby... he pulls Maya into a tight hug, muttering, "thank you for this beautiful gift... for giving me the most happiest moment of my life.Tears fall as he recollects the memories of when he found out he was to be a father... driving away from the house, his aching heart cries out, "it was a lie... it was a lie... it was a lie..."
P.S: oh man... I give up... I don't know why this light hearted story is becoming so emotional :(
Oh well... am no longer going to fight the direction of this ragna journey.
I shall try to bring some light moments... in the mean time don't forget your tissues :)
