Why has Akshay Kumar, the best actor since the beginning, not yet won a reputed award?
- Akshay Kumar mostly gets comedy films to act in. And comic actors never ever get nominations for awards along actors of other genre. Though he has proved it time and again that he is as versatile as anybody else in the business, he is hardly offered any meaty and high voltage roles by filmmakers. Only few directors like Neeraj Pandey afford to cast him for serious movies (Baby, Special 26). And needless to say, the genre of comedy is considered inferior to other genres like romance or drama. This is a shame. Many great comic actors have passed away without getting their due in the industry. I don't remember any comedian receiving national award for his performance in a certain movie.
- Akshay Kumar has been unfortunate in not getting offers from big production houses like YRF and Dharma. And i seriously cannot figure out the reason for this. He is , in a way, doomed to work with small producers and newcomer directors and make movies which aim for commercial success so that the revenue generated can suffice them. This makes him think less of critically acclaimed movies and opt for masala films which can entertain the masses, even if it does not have good storyline.
Hence, Akshay Kumar has not managed to grab awards. And it is sad. I hope he is given his due soon enough.
