Shravan was seething. This girl! When will her self respect lectures stop!
Chachi pleaded her, my father requested but no. She has to have her way always. Let's do this then! Let's give her what she wants. Thought shravan. A wicked smile graced his lips, Suman, get ready for the shock of your life. You should know from day one what you're getting into, shouldn't you! He dialled a few numbers, fixed everything and then called Preeti and Pushkar to make sure they would reach the court in time.
"Par bhaiya, achanak aap kyun? Batao toh hua kya hai..?", quizzed Pushkar.
"Pushkar, tu bas aja Preeti ko lekar, trust me neither you nor her will want to miss out on this."
"Aaisa kya...", Pushkar tried to reason but Shravan intervened.
"No questions chotte. Be there." And he disconnected the call.
Paperwork ready, witnesses taken care off ab bas dulhan ko lana hai! And that's exactly where he was headed. Suman Tiwari, you should be careful what you wish for, cause who knows you might just get your wish!
---------------------------------
Suman was now super se bhi upar exited with her wedding. So were the rest of her staff at PCT. The atmosphere there was contagious. And Shravan felt it as he parked the car outside.
Hearing the screech of a car pulling over, Suman went outside to see who it was. Lo and behold! Shravan was getting out of his Hyundai with his peculiar expression.
'Khadoos. Maanoge nahi lekin mujhe pata hai. Mujhe itna miss kar rahe the ki PCT aa gaye.'
She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize him coming to stand in front of her & was now staring down, straight into her eyes.
It took her another moment to collect herself and then nod at him questioningly.
He kept looking at her and then, in the arrogant tone reserved just for her, "Gaadi mein baitho. Bohot zyaada important kaam hai. Pohonchkar sab pata chal jayega."
She realized something was fishy but still her instincts told her to go ahead which she did.
----------------------------------------
The ride was a deathly silent one, for two people who were to be married soon, they had nothing to talk about, or one could say they had no inclination to begin the conversation. Suman kept stealing glances at Shravan who's eyes were trained on the road ahead, jaw taught and expression unreadable. Finally curiosity got the better of Suman and I a feeble yet firm voice she spoke, "Aaisa kya kaam hai ke tum mujhe urgently le aaye?". She waited for Shravan to answer but he did not so much as blink. She thought he was so lost he probably didn't hear her. So she repeated her question, "Shravan maine poocha ke...". He spoke before she could complete, "Kaha na pohoch jayenege toh samjh aa jayega." She kept mum, the graveity in his voice was enough to silence her.
The rest of the ride was reticent. Suman snapped out of her reverie when she noticed that the road they were on and headed straight up, lead towards family courts. Why are we headed there, she thought. "Shravan, hum court kyun ja rahe hai?", was met with silence.
"Shravan! Hum court kyun ja rahe hai?", no response.
"SHRVAN! MAINE POOCHA HUM COURT KYUN JAA RAHE HAI?", he didn't even flinch.
They reached the court and Shravan stepped out of his car, he saw Pushkar and Preeti were waiting there for them. Suman was now even more confused but she followed Shravan.
"Bhaiyaa yeh sab?"
"Chotte, tu bohot khush hai na ke tere Bhai ki shaadi teri best friend se ho rahi hai?"
"Haan Bhaiyya! Yeh bhi koi poochne ki baat hai!", Beamed Pushkar.
"Preeti, tum bhi khush ho na?"
"Ji Shravan, bohot bohot khush!"
"Suman, tum?"
She blushed for a moment and replied not meeting his gaze, "Haan."
"Toh bas! Mai tum logon ko aur intezaar nahi karvana chahta tha, tum sab ki khushi ke liye, aur Suman ke wish ke mutabik, hum aj aur bohot hi kam kharche mai shaadi kar rahe hai. Don't worry Suman, stamp paper ka aadha cost tum hi dogi!", he said venomously!
To say the trio was shocked was an understatement. Before any of them could utter a word, Shravan held Suman's wrist tightly and headed to the chamber where they were to be married. "Chalo! I can't wait to be married!". Everyone followed suit.

---------------------------------------
Shravan dragged her into the Room. The entire paperwork was neatly stacked on the table, in front. A Civil Lawyer, with huge specs on His nose stared back at them.
"Everyone present?"
"Yes!", replied Shravan, excitedly, cause the trio was shocked beyond words.
He went ahead and signed His part.
"Suman!", he called her and handed her the Pen.
"Chalo, ab sign karo!", he pushed her elbow.
"Par... Shravan..."
"Aree! Tumhe hi toh karni thi naa LOW COST shadi. Nahi nahi, do malaa aur teen dish waali shaadi. Par Maine toh tumharaa Faydaa kara diya! Stamp paper waali Shaadi karva di!", he chuckled. No one else was amused.
"Bhaiyya...?"
"Tum log itne shocked kyun ho? Pyaar karte hain hum ek doosre se!", he exaggerated.
Suman took a deep breath. She cleared all her doubts in a second. Grabbed the pen and put down the sign on the paper. All it took to be Mrs. Shravan Malhotra!
They were married!
"Di... Aapne?"
"Bharosa...", she said, looking into his eyes. "Mujhe Shravan par BHAROSA Hai", she smiled, as if to tease his egoistic avatar.
Shravan looked away with a 'I Care A Shit Look'.
But the fact remained : they were Mr. And Mrs. Malhotra!
-------------------------------------------
Bharosa? Did she say he had faith in him? Or was it faith in his bank balance? His thoughts seemed alien to him too. Somewhere deep down he knew this was the girl he fell for and that this girl may have a lot of issues but she did trust him explicitly. Monetary thoughts be damned. He spoke cause no one else did, "Where's the funeral?". All he got was puzzled looks. "Arey! Tum log aaise khade ho jaise koi marr gaya ho!".
"Bhaiyya please! Kam se kam aj ke din toh aaisi baaten na karo!"
"Toh mai bhi toh yehi bol raha hoon na! Ke tere bhai ki shaadi hui hai and teri shakal dekh! Abhi bahar phudak raha tha! Bohot khush hoon, ab kya hua!"
"Bhaiya khush toh mai abhi bhi bohot hoon, par yeh tareeka aapka sahi nahi tha. Aur mere samjh nahi aa raha itni jaldi aapne Magistrate ko mana liya, bina notice period ke shaadi bhi kar li..."
"Uff Pushkar! Pehle toh tujhe meri abilities pe shaq hai kya! MAi Shravan Malhotra hoon chote! Jo chahoon, karke rehta hoon." He said plainly looking into Suman's eyes.
He continued, "Aur tareeka sahi nahi tha? Legally shadi ki hai! It's the utmost proof of marriage."
"Bhaiya mai legally baat nahi kar raha. Morally, socially yeh galat hai. Sabko kitni umeeden thi iss shaadi se."
"Haan toh umeeden toh thi, par kya kare, dulhan ko bohot simple aur bohot sasti shadi chahiye thi."
"Lekin Shravan..", Preeti began. "Di, simple shaadi chahti thi yeh toh.."
"Beyond her expectations hai. Yehi na? Dekho Preeti, tumhari behen ab meri biwi hai, aur uski har khushi har khwaish ka khayal rakhna meri zimmedaari hai. Aur tum jaanti ho mai jo karta hoon, I give it my best. Iski shaadi ke prepartions mai I left no stone unturned, Tulips tak le aya. Ab iss baar bilkul simple chahiye thi shaadi toh I did the best simplistically possible."
Suman was aghast, he brought up her previous marriage as if it was nothing. She trusted him yes. But what was he doing and why was beyond her.
"Ab bas na, aur kuch doubts hai? Ya ab hum dono ko tum dono congratulate karoge?"
Hugs were exchanged, so were pleasantries, Shravan had bought some chocolate which he offered Suman first and then to Pushkar and Preeti, "Shadi hui hai yaar! Muh meethat karo!"
"Ghar pe sabko kaise...?", asked Suman.
"Shaadi ki hai. Legally Mrs. Suman Shravan Malhotra ho." He said rolling his tongue. "Duniya ko batane mai kya issue ho sakta hai! We are man and wife and mujhe kisi ko yeh batane mai na koi sharm hai na koi jhijhak. Chalo, Tiwari Killa chalte hai. Sabko good news deni hai! Aur Pushkar, ek grand party throw karni hai, saari responsibility teri."
"Ji bhaiya, Preeti aur mai sab kar lenge."
"Aur haan Pushkar, no expense sparred. Akhir Malhotra's ki part hai."
"Yeh bhi koi kehne ki baat hai bhaiya! Of course!"
Suman could feel the barbs in his tone but she could care less at the moment. It was still sinking in that she was married. To Shravan. Just like that.
----------------------------------------------
Preeti and Pushkar left for Malhotra House right away, to prepare for Grahpravesh.
The ride to Tiwari Killa was agonizingly slow for both of them. Suman could not help but notice an air of coldness around him. 'Baby steps, Sumo, ' she reminded herself. They halted at the signal stopping line and saw an elderly couple start crossing the road. The old uncle seemed a little anxious to cross the road, he used a walking stick and was looking back and forth again and again and asking his wife to do the same. His wife, shaked her head, smiled lovingly and held his hand. The uncle looked at her, smiled and resumed walking at a normal pace.
Shravan and Sumo saw all of this and as soon as the elderly couple was finished crossing, looked at each other. Suman was taken aback by Shravan's wistful, intense stare.
At the signal, Shravan had first looked at Sumo but noticing her smiling and looking at road, witnessed what she had. And he couldn't help the little envy that crept in his heart, seeing that uncle growing old with a loving wife in tow, thinking he would never get that kind of love.
But then as he looked back at her, he was moved. She was staring at him as if he was the reason of her existence. Looking at her expression, he felt a little hope flare in his heart. But that small flame was so bright that he thought it was pointless to think about her wrong doings. Maybe he still had a chance, maybe...
His little reverie was broken by loud honking from the vehicles behind. Sighing, he restarted the car and heard another sigh from from her.
---------------------------------------------------
She looked outside the window thinking how her life took a sudden turn. Few days back she was going to marry ADITYA. His name left a bitter taste in her mouth. Now she was sitting beside him as his wife, Mrs.Suman Shravan Malhotra.
She loved how her name sounds. A small smile crept on her lips. Her chain of thoughts was broken by his voice
"Chalo, ghar aa gya hai"
This was the first word he had spoken after they left the court. She tried to unfasten her seatbelt but seemed it got stuck.
He found her struggling so leaned on to help her. She stared at him. He could see love in her eyes but refused to believe it was for him. "All woman are selfish and manipulative . Suman is no different infact she is the most dangerous one "He thought. He let go the seatbelt saying " Bachi nahi ho tum khud kar sakti ho"
Tears pooled in her eyes as she watched his retreating form.
"Kyun shravan kyun? Kyun mujhe khud se door kar rahe ho? Itni nafrat karte ho mujhse ki mere pas ane se bhi tumhe takleef hoti hai?? Kaha kab kya galat ho gya shravan ?" She sobbed
She was able to get rid of the seatbelt after countless efforts. She wiped her tears and put on her best fake smile."
Together they entered inside. No one seemed very happy to see them means pushkar and preeti had already dropped the bomb.
"Haye haye dabboo ke papa hum na kehte the ye ladki ek din jaroor humari naak katayegi. Lekin nahi aap ko to meri sunni hi nahi hai." Mamiji started her usual drama
Mamaji as usual kept mum.
"Bas manju" nanu silenced her
"Ab jo ho gya so ho gya. Tumne logo ne bhale hi shadi kar li ho par humare bhi kuch riti riwaj hai unhe tum logo ko manna pdega " nanaji said.
Both of them nodded and sure what to say
"Bina sindoor mangalsutra ke bhi bhala koi shadi puri hoti hai. Babulal jao mandir se sindoor le ao. Rachna tum wo mangalsutra le ao jo maine tumhe rakhne ke liye dia tha ." Nanaji said
Both of them stood before the goddess durga. She closed her eyes as he filled sindoor and tied mangalsutra around her neck. A tear escaped her eyes. They took blessings of the elders.
Now it was the time of her vidai. She walked in her room and cried remembering the days she spent here. She took her parents photo . A photoframe fell on the ground. She picked it up. It was them eating kulfi . She smiled as she recalled the day.
"I promise shravan main apna pehle wala shravan wapas la ke rahungi"
------------------------------------------------
In no time, the vidaai rasam began. Mamiji brought chawal from the kitchen and with tearful faces but a satisfied heart, Suman bid the Tiwari Killa a goodbye.
The drive back home was silent.
Malhotra House
"Suman!!!", shrieked Vandy as she ran out of the House to welcome her.
She smiled weakly before Vandy engulfed her in a bone crushing hug. Shravan smirked.
Kamini welcomed them while Ramnath sulked in a corner. Suman entered her new 'Home' , to say the least
----------------------------------------------
Suman was at loss. All of this had happened to quickly for her to process any of this. Kamini chachi was making her sit with Sharavan so as to perform the after wedding rituals.
"Puttarji shaadi jaise bhi hui ho, yeh rasme toh hum karenge. Vandy puttar ja chetti chetti anghooti daal iss mai. Suman puttar tu ne hi dhoondhni hai anghooti."
Varun butt in, "Shravan! Bhai tu hi nikalna ring, warna mere wala haal hoga. Dekh aj bhi Vandy ki hi chalti hai."
Everyone laughed. Save ramnath who was as though he had lost all his blood.
"Yeh sab ki kya zaroorat hai, bekar ki baaten hai saari." Shravan said annoyed. Suman was hurt at his disinterest.
"Oye chup Oye! Shadi ki inni jaldi thi ke bina bataye kar aya, ab yeh sab karke humko bhi khush ho lene de!" Chirped chachi.
-------------------------------------------
"Shravan and Suman, here are the rules. Amidst flowered coloured water, there's a ring hidden. Tum dono ko 3 chances diye jaayenge, use dhoond nikalne ke liye. Majority search wins. Here we go!" Vandy Bhabhi chirped and thus started the rasam.
"Go Bhaiya, Malhotra boys ki shaan par laga do chaar chaand!" Pushkar encouraged.
"Suman di, dikha do ki hum Tiwari girls bhi kuch kaam nahi hai!" Preeti said, shooting her husband a superior look.
These comments were having their desired effect on the couple in the competition. Suman won the first round, legitimately. Shravan won the second. At the third chance, they got tied and to Shravan's utter astonishment, Suman let go. Embaraased by the oohs and ohs, he excused himself and went straight to his room. Ramnath noticed the couple's weird eye contact and was intrigued but refrained from reacting. After a while Suman changed into a nightwear that Vandy provided and left for upstairs, after learning from Vandy that rest of her stuff was placed there.
Stepping inside the room, the scene she was met with took her breath away.
----------------------------------------------
She entered his room nervously. It was not for the first time she entered that room . She had been here countless times .
How she used to enter without knocking as if she owned his room , she chuckled . Those days!! She sighed
She hesistantly knocked the room. But no response . She gently pushed the door , it was open .
The mesmerising sight before her took her breath away.
The room was beautifully decorated with tulips and lilies. It was dimly lit by candles.
Shimmery red white curtains were hanging on the windows.
S and S in a heart was made with rose petals in the centre of the bed.
It was like a dream come true. She was still admiring the decor when shravan entered.
As his gaze fell upon her ,his breath hitched . She looked so tempting in the that red lacy nighwear. His fingers itched to touch beautiful skin , he craved to have her in his arms .
"Gosh!!! Control shravan control !! You hate her. Dont give in to your desires." He muttered to himself
"But you still love her , you are only in denial " His inner voice chided.
"I dont . I dont love her . Not now not ever. " He rebuked .
His voice caught her attention.
"Kuch kaha tumne ?" She asked
He didnt even bother to answer. He was angry on himself .
"Why his stupid heart flutters everytime he sees her? "
"Why cant he hate her how much he tries?"
Frustated , he went to his bed .
Anger ignited as he saw that heart and SS .
"Yeh vandy bhabhi bhi na . Sirf sapno ki duniya me jeeti hai. Pata nhi unhe ki haqeeqat kitni kathvi hoti hai. " He said removing the petals .
She flinched at his words.
"Ab waha but banke khadi rhogi ya help krogi meri ? Bahut neend aa rhi hai mujhe." He said looking at her.
She started removing the petals . Each petal took away her one dream. In the end she felt empty , just like the bed was.
She took a pillow and headed to the couch.
"Oh hello!! Ja kaha rahi ho?? "
"Sone. Couch par "
"Ohh taki subah uth ke tum sabko bata sako ki tumhara pati tum par kitna atyachar karta hai . Abhi newly wed wife ko couch pe sula ke khud aram se bed pe so gya...haina?" He mocked at her
The false allegations boiled her blood.
"Main kuch bhi karu. Soun ja raat bhar jagrata karun tumse matlab?" She retorted
"Biwi ho tum meri" he said with such intensity it gave her goosebumps.
"Acha to yad aa rhi gaya ki main tumhari biwi hu"
In their heated argument they forget how close were they. Her body was almost touching his torso. He could feel heat radiating from her body. Both were lost in each other forgetting they were fighting few minutes back. He pulled her close to him holding her petite waist. His free hand caressed her face , his touch sending shivers to her spine
Suddenly music started playing [/FONT]
"Aaj fir tumpe pyar aya hai behad aur bemisaal aya hai"
That broke their trance and he imediately removed his hand.
"Now where does this music come from?" Both were suprised.
Suman tried to move but her mangalsutra got stuck in his shirt button.
Music changed to
"Jane do na , paas aao na , arey jane do na "
They tried to remove the mangalsutra . Suman's leg slipped a bit causing both of them to fall on the bed. She was lying on on top him.
Music changed
"Bheege honth tere , pyasa dil mera , lage abra sa mujhe tan tera"
The proximity was playing havoc on their minds and the stupid songs didnt help either.
How long can a man control his desires?? That too when the girl he had always dreamt of, was lying in his arms.
------------------------------------------
*Thump* And both fell the bed, Suman on the top of Shravan, his hands encircling her waist. Her hands rested on his chest. She could feel his heart hammering beneath her palm. His hard body cushioning her and his arms providing a steadying support felt like the safest place she could ever be, secure from the whole world, a heaven itself. His chocolate brown eyes gazed her intently, a myriad of emotions flicking by- annoyance, surprise, wariness with a hint of vulnerability and now wore a soft expression.
After an eternity, the song ended and this snapped them out of their starring feat. She tried lifting herself up but failed due to discomfort. Making an annoyed 'tch' sound, he started lifting from her waist. That caused him to squeeze her and a gasp left her mouth which he noticed, smirked a little and masked again.
"Ek minute Shra..." The magalsutra was about to snap but didn't as Suman bunched up the front of his shirt in her fist and stayed put. She started removing it but couldn't as her hair kept coming in between her eyes and fingers. Shravan promptly tucked them behind her ears and seeing Suman blush, realized what he'd done. But damn that blush! He couldn't take away his eyes from her face. Up close, she looked prettier than ever. And she was lying on Him! In his room! On His bed! And carefully untucking the mangalsutra that he put on her! Meaning she was His wife! A smile crept up his face.
"Urgh!" Frustrated, she sighed.
"Sumo, agar nahi nikal raha hai to khincho zor se."
"Nahi Toot jayega."
"Koi baat nahi. Doosra le aaunga."
"Thik hai. Biwi bhi doosri le aana. Lekin main apna mangalsutra nahi todungi."
"Tch. Is chain main kya rakha hai?"
"Tumhare liye chahe yeh sirf ek chain hai, mere liye meri shaadi ki nishani hai, mere shaadi ki pehli gift hai."
At this, he smiled at her. Scooting up, he held her close with one hand. As he reached pillow, he turned sideways so that both were facing each other.
"Sumo, yeh nahi hoga tumse. Main shirt utaar doon?"
"NAHIN!"
He burst out laughing seeing her horrified expression. Composing himself, he managed, "Toh tum kal tak nahi nikaal paogi ise. Puri zindagi yahi bed pe mujhe sula kar meri shirt se khelne ka iraada hai? Idea bura nahi hai but I can't fight court cases here."
"Haan toh mujhe bhi kaam hai. Pct bedroom main nahi hai jo khaana yaha se banakar deliver karu." Seeing his tightened expression, asked, "Tumhe mere PCT se problem hai?"
"Woh Aditya aur tumhari Nirmala Ahuja wali personality ki nishani hai."
"What? Agar chahte nahi the ki mujhe PCT wapis mile toh Aditya ko pct ke papers aur contract kyu diya. Huh! Mujhe laga tum meri help kar rahe the!"
"Tumhari help karne main Aditya se kahunga? Main khud bhi..."
Then it sunk in. She thought he was helping her indirectly because on face he was rude! Sh**! How could I be so blind! But wait..." What contract are you talking about Sumo?" he asked softly.
"Aditya brought in investors and a business deal. He has a share in the profit."
"Cancel the deal. Sign the deal with me. I'll help you. Please. I don't want him lurking around you. Believe me, he is harmful."
She pondered over his words. Looking at his earnest expression, she sighed. "Okay."
His face brook into a grin. It was the happiest he had felt in days. Finally. She agreed to what I said!
She smiled in return and resumed working on the untucking task.
The next time she looked up, he was asleep with a soft smile on his face. Smiling, she turned around and switched off the light. Pulling the duvet, she covered them both. As she tried sleeping comfortably, his arm came around and pulled her closer. He looked deep asleep but if he wasn't, she decided to play along.
Placing her arm around his stomach, she drifted off to sleep, with hopeful thoughts about their future.
