I just saw pics of Ganesh Chaturthi celebration episode and as usual, all the gents and ladies have wore Maharashtrian clothes like they do every year. But Ganesh Chaturthi isn't just a Maharashtrian festival. It's celebrated all over India by people belonging to all languages so what's the need to wear Maharashtrian clothes all the time while celebrating the festival?

They do this even with Navratri. They always show Navratri as a Gujarati festival even though people all over India celebrate it.I have seen many south Indians dancing in Navratri pandals in Chennai and Hyderabad.

Why the stereotyping of these national festivals?

Yes its celebrated all over but they show that way coz its celeb on large scale in Maharastra.
I live in Rajasthan and here we dont celeb Ganesh chaturthi on that grand level.I guess most family in maharatra bring ganpati home which is not common in other states.

About Navratri technically they shud celeb bengali way .But as everything thing revolve around Gada's .So gujrati.
During Navratri too focus remains on Daya ,fr a change they should focus on Babita.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in a grand way in North India,South India.Who said only Maharashtrians bring Ganapati home?I have seen North Indians and South Indians do that.
The thing is the cvs just love to stereotype everything and they have not spared even festivals.

Ganesh chaturthi is primarily a Maharashtrian festival which was celebrated during the time of Shivaji. It was halted due to mughal & British invasion. The tradition of worshiping clay idols of Ganesha was started by Lokmanya Tilak.

Yup and especially during peshwa time as Ganpati was bhat family's Kuldev (family god). celebration of Ganesh chaturthi in all over india started after post independence or near independence.

I would like to disagree with both of you. Because worshipping of ganapati that too clay idol started much before independence. My grandmothers used to tell us how they celebrated ganesh chaturthi during their childhood by bringing clay ganapati idols and most of the people in their time were making the idols by themselves at home. My grandma passed away recently and by the way she was 101 years old. So this celebration started much much before independence. And Tilakji made it famous by introducing pandal system of worshipping so as to build leadership quality and mainly unity among youngsters. This spread all over the country as it had unique and great intention.

Regarding the show, I think asit modi should visit south Indian household especially karnataka state to which I belong during navaratri or also called Dasara. We too celebrate for 10 days. It is believed that Lord Venkatesha also known as Srinivasa and balaji (it is an incarnation of lord Vishnu) married Lakshmi or her incarnation Padmavati during this time and their wedding is celebrated for 10 days I.e Dasara. This story is known as Srinivasa Kalyana.

During this time people create miniatures of monuments of our country, temples, miniatures of village life, city, parks and forests and what not. This is not connected to the legend Srinivasa kalyana but it's just a unique way of celebrating Dasara. I myself have made miniature of tirupati hills (Lord balaji), badrinath, a forest and a park at my house.

So asit modi if you say tmkoc is a representative of mini India, then please concentrate on the other parts of our country. Maybe that can help you come up with even more interesting episodes.

honestly, navrati is celebrated by other religions because we also do poojas and we giveaway girls (typically young girls) with gifts such as school items, makeup, etc as they are considered a form/blessing of Maa Durga.
i'm also confused as to whether the gada family is hindu or jain family because, as a jain myself, "Jai Jinendra" is done in the Jain religion but in the episodes where tapu sena is applying for mk gandhi college, they said hinduism as their religion. i'm not being offensive as i have partaken in different religious ceremonies from my friends & families. i have only seen them show about mahavir jayanti only once but after that i haven't seen them showcase much about jain religion like the paryushan parva which is an important festival in jainism afterwards.

Yes Ganesh chaturthi is traditionally celebrated in Maharashtra and also in karnataka where they do Ganesh Sthapna at home..I m not sure if its tradition but telugus in my colony also did..
nowadays even people of other states also bring Ganeshji home coz they have immense faith in Him..even in my homestate Gujarat.
But have seen less of large scale pandals in South unlike Maharashtra..its usually celebrated within family..or in cosmopolitan societies.. not as grand as in Maharashtra.

Navratri as in nine day garba - dandiya festival originated from Gujarat. In karnataka it is dussera..10th day is most important when all the cultural events reach its peak..In bengal and orissa It is durga puja where most of the festivities start from 6th day..( correct me if I m wrong..my Bengali friends told this)

Dandiya nights have become popular like ganeshotsav and now its celebrated all over the country..still not on such a large scale like Gujarat where all major halls and party plots organise dandiya nights..

So basically TMKOC is showing popular culture..they did show babita going home for durga pooja..I remember an episode where all ladies were dressed in traditional bengali attire..and maybe they r dressed in state costume just to show the state of origin.
For a change we can msg them to show durga pooja instead of navratri..would be a good change
