My head cannon is that Ru was bullied during school and Shivay being head boy protected him but when Shivay went to Cambridge, Ru had no1 to protect him and he wanted to be fit to look good, get accepted and be able to defend himself if his bros aren't around. Also, it is a way to get the stress out of missing his eldest bro, seeing his second elder bro indulging in drugs and his parents constantly fighting.

My guess is that Ru aready used to cal Om O but he couldn't pronounce Shivay at all. That's why he called Shivay as bhaiyya but not Om and Om remained O.

I feel Pinky didn't have that much issue as Tej did so the bigger challenge for ObBros would be OmRu(Mostly Om) standing up to his dad for his brothers(both for diff. reasons)

The bullying thing is a running head cannon for ages and we all seem to think that it might be true.
