It is with a heavy heart and an affronted sensibility that I pen what is to follow. And it is a sincere plea on behalf of several of my friends that I request the moderators to also kindly give this the attention and importance it deserves.

In light of recent activities on this forum, we are incensed to note that a few members repeatedly plagiarize ideas that are not exactly ordinary and not everybody is privy to that kind of insight. When some of us choose to post a topic on this forum, we take great pains to sift through pages and pages of past topics in order to come up with something original, something different to write about. We take great pride (and deservedly so) that our posts almost always have something absolutely fresh to offer and there is a certain effort on our parts to enable that freshness to shine through.

We have always steered clear of the regular posts that drool over actors or actresses or the chemistry shared between them because we believe that a separate space has been created for that purpose (kudos to those who have created that space) and not condemning the need to salivate, if we need to, we visit one of these threads, not cluttering the forum with the redundant.

When we strive so hard to raise the bar of the forum and give the forum so much to talk about, as is evident by the length of some of our posts (never falling below 50 threads, each reply substantial and credit worthy), it indeed hurts and incenses to see that some of our ideas, discussed to death and laid to rest finally, only to stop further cluttering of the forum with re-iteration, are suddenly given new life under the assumed cloak of originality.

Net space etiquette demands that you credit someone for the idea in case you want to borrow it. If members wish to stay clear of a particular line of thought or a discussion because of the intimidating quality and would prefer to bring it to the attention of others, the least they can do is credit the original idea to the topic starter who first thought of it. Plagiarism is a highly condemnable offense, may I call your attention to Kaavya Viswanathan and her plight after How Opal Mehta Got Kissed…was discovered to be a plagiarized piece of work…

Moderators, May I kindly request you to revamp the popular topic starters system, please? I think when you have a system with so many loopholes, everybody craves for their moment of fame and the result is several posts on the same lines, some clearly borrowed from old topics that have run even 100 threads. It is very easy to get 50 views and 10 replies. We are not concerned about whether or not our names appear in that magical box of fame, because our sole purpose of posting on the forum is to generate a healthy and intelligent discussion which we manage almost always. But considering your constant pleas to keep the forum clean, I think you would manage that very easily by just doing away with the system or reconsidering the criteria to be a popular topic starter.

An honest appeal from us, we request every member and every moderator to kindly co-operate and to use the space indigenously created to vent your ardor for a particular performer. And most importantly not to plagiarize thoughts and ideas. Respect the effort of the topic starter that enabled a never-seen-before discussion.

Thank you for your patience and time.

Aarti: A much needed post , in light of the events of the past few weeks, that the forum has seen, with several ideas re-iterated ideas over and over again , in the garb of originality and ingenuity...

Every time we post a topic , a lot of thought goes into it... the effort may be in thought, in gathering facts, in style of narration, but the effort is there and one that drains us emotionally , physically and mentally.

Be it a spontaneous thought that is extend into a full blown write up or a well narrated and extremely substantiated post by , or a well researched post ... the effort is glaring when a reader reads it and to have the post and the discussion it generates, which are jus as content rich and intellectually stimulating, undermined in a manner so demeaning as plagairism is disgusting and resentful to say the least and not to forget , it leaves the creators of the original posts incensed!

Discussions on the forthcoming track and guessing of the suspects in the storyline, were done minutes after the episode was aired only to have people come up with so called ingenious inferences as to who the culprit was , after the track was aired for near full two weeks without as much as the basic etiquitte to credit the original poster, with the idea.

The forth coming track of the Dil Movie was forseen way before the actual track was seen in the episode and as soon as the episode was aired , a clutter of posts were seen on the forum by members with their ingenious discovery ....without as much being graceful enough to credit the poster.

One is aware that many are silent readers , and prefer to be so, out of their wish to not chip in , but at the same time enjoy the discussion, but to use the garb of a silent reader and pliagarize ideas and post them as their own, when they lack the courage to post and reply in the original post is disgusting. Such behavior , really leaves them, unworthy of even empathy for not being able to reply in the original post due to the intimidating quality of the post.

And as parting note, considering that a hue and cry is made out , to not clutter the forum with repeatitive posts, the forum only seems to have more of them, that are repititive! None of the repeated posts are closed or the popular topic starter column only seems to provoke such inspid behavior from the topic starters to secure their position on the chart.

Its a genuine plea, to the moderators to act on this and to give the topic starters who dare to start intelligent , stimulating discussions their due credit!

Makes me wonder, if the discussions were to be taken away from the forum , DMG IF would only seem to be the perfect cubhole (borrowing the word from Aarti) for drooling over the lead actor's genetically blessed attributes.... and for expressing constant craving for heart tickling mush and romance as opposed to what they claim to see ( a diff track and a different story...). Irony of the modern day viewer mentality ... I suppose, with a few exceptions as is the nature of every rule..!

A disappointed forum member,

Sareeta

@ kan123 thank you for understanding and expressing your support! we are indeed very upset because trust me, when we post and considering it is not very often, perhaps once every 2 or 3 days, we think for hours to come up with something original and discussion worthy. even if it is something on lines of ridhima bashing, we try and give it a different academic spin, be it in derisive pleasure, woes of expression, the worst of ridhima, footsteps..., fall from grace, kissa kiss ka or wild oats. each one has had a seperate and a unique take. well substantiated by literature, philosophy and psychology. we do not do it for popularity, we enjoy the stimulation.

but if our efforts are going to go down the drain of plagiarism, we can only tolerate it to a certain extent!!!

Very much needed. You put in so much of effort into creating informative and thought provoking posts, so much of creativity and originality and really try to raise the bar of discussions. You put in so much of thought to each and every reply to the posts. It is highly appreciated. I cant even begin to think about the kind of effort it takes and how much it must be draining you out.

To have that blatantly copied without so much as a by your leave or acknowledgement and to pose as an original is reprehensible. It is sad to see people lack basic etiquette and manners.

As you very rightly pointed out there are spaces where you can drool over the actors and they shud be made full use of, even we do.

It would be nice if we could put an end to the clutter of mindless posts and the very point in putting up such post is baffling except it creates chaos and you have mindlessly dig through endless such posts and it is very irritating. I wish the posts are consolidated and people are more disciplined and follow the basic rules of etiquette and manners.

well i agree with all of you on this i know everyday their are so many topics that i go through were most of the stuff is the same in every thread just with a different title....and i also understand when you write long views and opinions on a topics sometimes when i going over pages 15 and over i find some very nice long topics of members talking about their views and perspectives on an episode which is really wonderful to read rather then few lines of what happened in the programme each day........

everyday their are some member who are continously starting topics but with different scenes that happened in the episode and it gets really annoying beacuse if we have one spoiler topic for every episode everyone is welcome to write and say what they though of the programme and what happened. it is really comman sense 😛 😛

and thank you vaarti for this much needed post...... 😛 😛

Thank you Vaarti for posting this.. we have made it a sticky so that everyone can read this..

Also, I totally agree with u about repeating the same kind of topics.. The development team itself is fed up with this....Its so weird that members duplicate topics just to be famous and to get on the popular topics starter board..

I hope after reading this memo, members will not copy original topics.. and its my sincere request to all of u that anything related to actor/actress please discuss in appreciation thread instead of creating seperate topics..From now onwards if we see any duplicate topics, they will be closed immediately....
