A thought came into my mind after posting on the 'what did sid achieve from jhalak?' thread. There is a massive difference that i have noticed between india's tv and movie industry in comparison to america's.
The gap between hollywood and american tv isn't actually big. Tv actors can more easily get a chance in a movie role in america in comparison to india. In america they do not look down on tv actors and they are even given roles by producers and not treated like tv actors have no worth in movies. But in contrast, bollywood seems like such a snobbish industry where all the big movies have the same actors cast in it continuously instead of a variety of stars or new talent and tv actors getting next to zero chances of being cast in a bollywood movie even as a cameo role, let alone a supporting or main lead role.
Why does india's movie industry look down on its tv actors so much unlike the american or british movie industry? Who else feels that bollywood has the most monotonous casting system ever where they just serve scripts to the same handful of 8-10 big name actors and completely leave out the rest of the industry whether that be other bollywood actors who may not be considered bankable by producers in terms of box-office collections or their tv actors?
It's no wonder that tv actors like sid make such silly and desperate attempts to forge a path to a bollywood career when producers refuse to even acknowledge that there are more actors outside the same 8-10 actors they keep casting in their movies.
