Inspired by the Housefull 3 thread.
What do you guys think of the blatant -isms that you see in Bollywood movies- colorism, racism, sexism etc?
This scene for example-
Do you feel it's all in jest and shouldn't be taken seriously or do you find it disturbing?
Some of these movies do not get into trouble in the first place for discrimination, especially in the case of racism and colorism.
Do you think the audience is to blame? Is it because of their 'mediocre' taste, as Anushka Sharma has said?
There are also scenes in Rajnikanth's Lingaa where an Indian man berates and beats his white British wife, as if in retaliation to what the villainous British collector has put them through. Classic combination of racism and sexism. Using women to get back at another group. It's considered honourable to conquer the British by conquering one of their own women.
Opinions?
What other examples can yo provide of such '-isms' in movies?
