Running around draped in a sari is simply not Delnaz Paul's idea of acting. But as luck would have it, she plays Krishna, a sari-clad, gaudy aunty in Mere Apne. The bubbly actress is having a tough time shooting with nine-yards of cloth wrapped around her.

Not just that, Delnaz has also been given a perm, flowers for the hair, loud jewellery and garish make-up. She says, about her Bindu-like '70s look, "Just the thought of wearing gives me the jitters. I have always worn western outfits or at the most salwar-kameezes in my shows. However, this time I had to look very Indian so I had no choice. I think it is a challenge to wear a sari every day, there are people on the sets who drape the sari for me."

She will be seen wearing a sari for the first time in a daily show. She laughs, "Yes, this is the first time that I am wearing a sari in a daily show. At first I was really uncomfortable but I gave in thinking it will be different from my usual roles."

As for her look in the show, she says, "A lot of people have told me that I have gone overboard with the look, and it's very loud and garish, but I don't care. I have worked in this profession for a decade and I needed to look different. I play a glamorous version of Bindu, with interesting shades."

Delnaz's look has been designed by Vini Malhotra.
