Chapter 57- The Notes

Virender, Bhavani, Sudhir and Maheswari were seated for lunch while the 3 DILs served.

" Virenderji I have made the menu of today's lunch discussing with your daughter. She told what her parents like" told Maheswari.

Virender looked at his plate. Most of his favourite dishes were there. But that was after all a daughter's duty he thought. She is supposed to know. If she had not known, then today Bhavani would have paid the price.

" Maheswariji in our house daughter's know what each member of the family like. I hope Suman knows the likes and dislikes of everyone here" told Virender.

" Yes Uncle Suman is a fast learner. She observes everyone, their needs and behaves accordingly" told Sudhir

" Yes Virenderji I should give credit to you and your wife for bringing up such a noble daughter" told Maheswari. Bhavaniji you are silent. You didn't tell me what your daughter like. She doesn't tell anything. Today I came to know she likes Malpau and Rabdi. Asked Maheswari

Bhavani looked at Virender to speak and Virender gave a curt nod. Maheswari observed them.

" Maheswariji Suman doesn't have many wants. She is generally a happy child. Engrossed in her dance painting and writing. She does the dress design for all the woman in our family, dress them up also for all festivals. Me, her aunts, her bhabi's and her sisters. On most occasions decking others up she forgets to dress up herself. On festivals, poojas and all Suman will finally rush mostly simply dressed. She will adapt to any surrounding."

Maheswari looked at Suman as she served. The girl without much wants. Yes she was like that. But Maheswari felt there was a deep pain inside her. It had nothing to do with her white dress, from what Bhavani told the girl didn't care much about jewellery or colorful clothing. But it was something else and that something has to do with her father she understood as she saw Suman's hand shivering multiple times when she served her father.

The Rajputs bade goodbye post lunch. Bhavani hugged Suman once again and asked her to take care. Suman smiled at her mother.

Suman sighed as they left. Now she has to talk to Sreedhar. What he was upto. What was in those notes her father took. Today she will tell him during dinner to be cautious.

As Suman was taking the dinner tray to Sreedhar's room, Sudhir told " Maa I will have dinner with Sreedhar today. I need to discuss something with him on the business"

" Ok beta then take your thali too" told Maheswari. Sudhir took the plate and accompanied Suman

When they entered itself Sreedhar was all grinning " Yes I was expecting you Bhaiyya. You will have grievances against me right "

Sudhir sat by his side caressing his hair as Suman kept his dinner plate. " It is not grievance Sreedhar, it is concern."

" Tell him jethji, tell him he is playing with fire. What was the need for him to talk about me being here, and why did he give those notes to Papa. I don't know what Papa will make out of those"

" Suman I wont tell he is completely wrong. But he was not right also. I had no qualms of him giving the notes to your Papa, but my concern is how did your Papa know he called you Suman. Did he throw a stone just like that and Sreedhar reacted to it, Suman he has never called in public. Second this idiot telling you being here an anomaly. Why give hint of we suspecting some foul play from his side"

" Jethji what was the need for him to talk about woman indepedance and all. I have seen his conference report end to end. It had many parts with IT being the key driver. Why unnecessary stress on the part he knows my Papa will be offended. Coming to him calling me Suman in public. In that community meeting in front of everyone he had called me Suman only. That is what I say. News would have reached Papa from here. He has many chamchas here and there"

Sudhir looked at Suman incredulously " Are you sure Suman"

" Yes Jethji. I cannot miss it. He called me Suman"

Sreedhar looked at her and then at Sudhir " Sreedhar if you had called her Suman that day, I would tell you going forward be cautious. Suman cannot come from your mouth. Sumanji itself I don't know how long we can keep the mask, but Suman is a definite no no"

" Bhaiyaa I understand, I will be cautious. But I don't regret a bit on talking about woman independence or giving her father the notes. If not today, tomorrow he will have to know what kind of a guy I am. Whether he likes it or not is the second thing. But he has to know me for what I am. What I stand for"

" Sreedhar yes he has to know, but aren't there better ways of telling. You should never forget he is her father and it is you who have to make a favourable impression on him. Couldn't you have allowed me to speak a bit more my brother than jumping the gun"

Suman was in tears now " Sreedhar you don't know my father. Don't take him lightly and play around"

Sreedhar looked at her. As he spoke his voice was calm but strong " Suman I didn't know what he was.But today I know what he is. Seeing you day in day out I know what he is. I have not forgotten the day I saw you here in the white dress staring at me with blank eyes, I knew him that moment. Now your father will have to know me. He will have to know Sreedhar Varma. You very well know I cant keep pretensions atleast not about my values, principles and the ideals I belief in.He did what he want with his chamchas who are his paid servants. But I am going to do it with you, my relations, my friends. Yes hide and seek has to be there. I agree to some of Bhaiyya's points. Will take care. But this time me and your father has to face each other like men Suman. There is no escaping that."

Suman looked at him. Sudhir patted Sreedhar's shoulder and told Suman " Suman everyday the script doesn't play the way we want. But we have to see overall how it went. For all the faults today we can say Sreedhar did unnerve your father. We will be cautious, but we wont be afraid. Have faith". Finally Suman smiled.

"The boy is really good. What a caring eyes and gentle smile " told Bhavani as they entered their room.

Virender looked at his wife. He knew there was no point beating her. She will still say good things about the Varma boy. After reading the notes Virender was not sure what he was feeling. Narayan Murthy CEO of India's next blue chip company Infosys have given the credit of his success to his wife Sudha Murthy to the extend he had told the whole empire is build on her savings of Rs 10000. He didn't know what to say, what to feel. What could he shout about Narayan Murthy. His success was proven and credit is given to a lady his better half. In his speech Mr Murthy had urged the young men to respect the woman in their life, asking them to allow their better halves to follow their dream. Virender threw the papers on the floor. They scattered, so was his peace of mind. Will men like NRN get more importance in the new world. Will girls see these men as their partners and take decisions. Sudha Kulkarini had married Narayana Murthy as per her choice. He felt like head splitting and once again Sreedhar Varma seemed to mock at him. He didn't know what to do with it.

lovely update Shruthi. Typical man is this Rajput. He took it for granted that a daughter should know the liking of her father. But Yes even we got the same advise and give the same advise to our younger ones that one should always know the likes and dislikes of her whole family. off course not just girls but also boys. This will come handy when you are need of some favors from others. As the say goes "the way to a man's heart is through is stomach". And so our lady rebel Mrs. Rajput, she took the opportunity to irritate husband by praising Sreedhar simply because she knew he doesn't like Sreedhar. Wow what a pair and poor guy he realized now his beating will not have any effect on her, she is safe now physically atleast.

Sudhir was too good to explain where his brother went wrong or rather rushed with his to be FIL. let us see the effect of Narayana Murthy and his philosophy on Mr. virendar. Pity that he feel his castle is collapsing because of his daughter.

And I also love to check on Maheshwari, I mean what way she follow to unearth the hidden sorrow and fear Suman has on life. I wish she does it personally than using her other DILs as a medium to get the details spelled.

@jaya when someone feel their castle is collapsing they will do everything to hold it. That is where the real fight has to play out. Sreedhar at this point is just an irritation for Virender, but going forward, that irritation will manifest just like Mahantji running behind Suman. 😆😆.Maheswari I will keep her unopened at this point 😉. When I conceived the story itself, I had enjoyed envisioning Maheswari 😆😆

Virender is utterly narrow minded. And very controlling as well.

Chapter 58- Dil Hai ke Maanta Nahi

Sudhir and Tilak were watching news. The news reader told " Based on the petition filed by noted philanthropist lawyer Amit Rathore and because of the uproar that was generated among the masses and the protests done by Civil Society Supreme Court has ordered CBI Enquiry into the sensational Mahima Das rape case. We take you to our reporter in Delhi to get the latest news.

The anchor in Delhi continued " Yes it is a great day for Indian democracy. The fight for justice for Mahima Das is finally bearing fruit. Yes we are getting a CBI enquiry under the able leadership of Sachin Rastogi who is an ace CBI leader. A 3 member investigative team will move to Jaipur and as per our latest info CBI is asked to submit the report within 6 months"

Tilak and Sudhir jumped and went to Sreedhar's room. " Sreedhar big success. With what you have done door of justice might open for the young 13 year old and her family. CBI enquiry is on for Mahima Das rape case" Sreedhar hugged his brothers. " Bhaiyya it would not have been possible without you both"

Suman was arranging Sreedhar's dinner plate as she heard all the commotion. She took a Kaju Barfi and kept it in his plate.

" Suman what happened. Sreedhar is still on diet right " asked Vindhya

" Yes Bhabi. He is on diet. But today, today he deserves this bhabi. Because of him a young girl who lost her life to a man's lust might get justice. A family will get closure for the bitter memories"

" And you don't deserve anything" came in Maheswari

" Me Maa what did I do to deserve something. He took all the beating " told Suman

" Yes he took beating. But Suman the courage you showed in coming down not fearing the social taboos and not fearing what will happen to you, if you enter the Jagratha is behind what he is today. So for me the real credit goes to you. So eat this " saying it Maheswari pushed a Kaju Barfi into Suman's mouth.

" Maa thank you " said Suman and Maheswari patted the girl on the shoulders as she carried the tray. Other members were seated for the dinner.

When Suman entered Sreedhar's room the tape recorder was on and the song Dil hai ke Maanta Nahin was playing. She kept the dinner plate and looked at him.

" Dil Hai ke Maanta Nahin. Muskil Badi hai Rasmein Mohabbat, ye Jaanta hi nahin"

Sreedhar was smiling as she took the barfi and held to him. He took half the bite and fed her the remaining. Sreedhar could she was glowing, her face registering the pride she was feeling . He stared at her. She at first stared back, but then she turned away, not able to stand that intensity in his eyes. Sreedhar could see she was smiling even when she was not looking.

" Ye Bekrari kyun ho rahi hai, ye jaanta hi nahin"

Sreedhar eat food. Don't gaze at me like this. He kept his hand on hers and pushed it under the table mat so that no-one will easily observe it. She looked at him. His eyes were teary.

" Sumi I am sorry " he said, gently pressing her hand.

" For what getting beaten up " she asked

" No"

" For what happened between us in the Jagratha Mandap"

" No Sumi"

" Then " her eyes were also teary now

" For making you feel what happened between us in the Jagratha Mandap was something dishonorable. For making you feel you did something dishonorable because of which I had to protect your honor" . She stared at him. She could feel the love in his eyes. But unlike the day in Jagratha Mandap today it was calm, not passionate

Dil toh ye chahe har pal tujhe hum bas yuhi dekha kare

They had landed together after rolling over in the Jagratha Mandap. Suman looked up. Their faces were inches apart. She tried to get up. But she felt his arm tightly around her waist, restraining her. She looked at him and saw a passion in his eyes which at first unnerved her, her heart skipped a beat but then made her body feel a warmth that was pleasant.

Marke bhi hum na tumse judha ho aao kuch aisa Karen

Sreedhar looked at her. Her saree was completely red with yellow sprinkled. Her face also had gulal. Her hair was all over his face. In her eyes he saw the same yearning which he was feeling for her. Her lips quivered.

Mujme samaja, aa paas aaja, hum dum mere hum nashi

He took her lips into his. Suman closed her eyes feeling him. Her hands moved from his chest towards the back of his neck as she lowered her face . He kissed her passionately for few moments and she reciprocated it. Then they heard noises and broke away

She looked at him. "Sreedhar.."

" No Sumi. That day in hospital I want to talk about it. You said when we are back home I can talk. You will listen. Allow me to tell Sumi. I wanted to tell you this. I very much wanted to tell you this. Just listen." He pressed her hand. She nodded. " Sumi everyone saw the way you tried to physically protect me. But only I know what real protection you gave me that day. Sumi by accepting the intimate moment with me that day, you protected me from falling in front of my own eyes. Believe me Sumi, if you had said no, I would not have been able to forgive myself for taking advantage of the moment. Sumi I am not concerned about what the world thinks about me. But I am very much concerned about what you think about me. Because if I cant meet your eyes, I cant even meet my mother's eyes as if I insult you or misbehave with you it is equivalent to insulting her, insulting whatever she has taught me from childhood.

Sumi when I loved you, I had always wanted to deliver on your trust because I know how much you trust me. In college I had tried my best to ensure even if you break some rules with me no one raises a finger at you. Sumi when I came back from US and saw you, you wanted me to move on. I could not move on Sumi because in front of Goddess I had given you the seven promises. Yes there was no other witness other than Maa Durga for what we did that day. You had walked those 7 rounds with me without another witness trusting me. And society put a bind on you, while I could walk scott free. I didn't wanted that Sumi, I wanted to deliver on your trust. I want you to know it was not just a walk I did with you, but I meant each and every word I spoke.

And that day in Jagratha Mandap I realized the level at which you have trusted me Sumi. Without any formal binding just for the binding we had in front of Maa Durga you accepted the intimacy. Though I couldn't realize it immediately as I was confused, I understood that after that intimate moment my resolve to protect your trust has increased. And my way of protecting your trust was standing between you and the society Sumi. Before the society reaches you, they will have to bypass me. Sumi please understand whenever I am standing between you and the society I am only delivering on the trust you placed on me by being a part of me. And Sumi it also means that I trust you completely that you will never do any action intentionally that can make me stand in front of society with bowed head. So Sumi whatever I did it had nothing to do with honor. It had only to do with trust. Trust you have on me and the trust I have on you. It was there before, but then after the intimate moment we shared understand I have become more responsible towards you, wanting to do more for you. Your trust is my power Sumi and I will go any extend to protect it.

Tears were flowing from his eyes and she was also crying as he caressed her hand.

" Sreedhar I was also confused that day. I was thinking why didn't I stop you. And when you talked about honor in the messed up state I was also angry at you. Then I realized you will be as confused as I am. In hospital I saw you so vulnerable which I have never seen you before. Sreedhar leaving my modesty as a woman I want to tell you one thing. In that intimate moment with you I felt myself alive again. I felt happy sharing that moment with you. It was my choice not any compulsion. Yes I want us to understand the social reality of our relation and need to be more cautious so that we don't cross the limit. But that moment we shared I don't want to feel guilty about it Sreedhar, because I understood in front of Maa Durga we have not sinned. And sinning from society perspective we have taken the punishment also. You physically and me emotionally"

Sreedhar smiled at her, leaving her hand. She too was smiling. Their mind felt like the clear sky after the rain.

" You have become a hero Sreedhar" Suman told as she took his plate.

" You have made me one Sumanji" he smiled back at her, his eyes showing all the affection for her.

😆 So finally the cat is out of the bag 😆 😆 😆 . So I hope now agree with me about my talks on Trust factor Mrs. Maheshwariji has on Suman and how they need to bind to the society rules atleast till such time the mother agrees to bring them together or suggest that they become one with whole heart. Now that they are out of Guilt for what had happened on Jagratha, I think they will concentrate on other things her taking completing her degree as an external candidate. (Here Sudhir & Vindya can help her getting all the necessary documents from her Delhi college. She can give her exams in Jaipur.

Now that Poornima Patel is entering the scene, I want Maheshwariji to brace herself to get introduced to her Grand daughter (the first child of Varma's) and I really don't wish to see a broken Rajasheka. I want him to take the bold step by announcing the child as his grand daughter and due to some conspiracy of external force, they were ignorant about her existence. I want Tilak and his father reconcile and share a better bonding.

@Jaya you keep too much expectation from Rajasekhar. I am not sure whether I can meet your expectations😆😆. If I reform him too quick, everything will be over. 😆😆. Let him be there. Thoda cold, thoda warm😆😆

nice parts Shruti.. now that they both have talked about it.. they have got a closure.. i would like to see Suman to complete her education too. and I hope secure a gold medal too. just like she wanted..
