Doesn't playing Abhi for over three years suffocate you?
When I started playing Abhi, the character was a 25-year-old man - outspoken, zestful and very clear about his priorities. But Abhi is now 45 and has turned a bit pessimistic. This character has given me so many shades to perform. So there's no question of feeling suffocated.
Do you believe in doing one show at a time?
It's all about setting one's parameters. When a person is in a daily show, he has to devote most of his time towards the show. So getting involved in more shows demands time. This is my point of view. I am in 'Rabba Ishq Na Hove' as it is not a daily show.
Has marriage (with actress Rajeshwari Sachdeva) mellowed you?
Probably yes. I have changed a lot after marriage. I think few people are made for marriage and I am one of those lucky ones. I really don't now how easy or difficult a person I am to live with. But I am enjoying it every moment.
It is rumoured that your marriage is already turning sour?
I am not bothered about these rumours. But nine months of marriage have assured me of one thing - I should have got married earlier!
Is it true that you and Rajeshwari concocted the story about the extortion threat to get publicity?
We are already quite famous and would never recourse to such a cheap gimmick. It's a chapter best forgotten. I would not like to speak about it as the police are still investigating the case.
How do you and Rajeshwari unwind?
Rajeshwari is not working now. It's nice to have her home when I am back from work. We prefer to stay at home, talk to each other, listen to music or put my projector on and see a film.
So you two are home-birds?
It depends. We are not at all the partying sort. But if I get time I love taking Rajeshwari out for a ride on my bike. I am crazy about my bike.
If not an actor what would you be?
Perhaps a writer. I used to write short stories. But now I write poems in Hindi and Urdu. This requires time as well.
