Mishal Raheja
Ami Sheth, Bollywood News Service
Mishal Raheja the lead actor of 'Ishq Ka Rang Safed' has been in the news for being one of the highest paid actors in the TV industry. Is it true? We ask Mishal to shed light on this, the future of IKRS and more.
"I just bought my mom a Mercedes B-class car."
"Keeping the time slot in mind and also the response of the masses of the country, IKRS' is working."
Reportedly, you are the highest paid TV actor. Comment.
I think there are a lot of actors who charge more.
Is it true that you are paid over one and a half lakh per day?
I can't comment on my price; it's too personal. The press must have either speculated or got the information from the channel or the production. But I made no such claim.
How do you feel about it?
Of course I feel very happy, it's something that boosts your confidence; gives you publicity; and shows your demand in the market
Would you say that TV is still a heroine-centric industry?
Well, yeah! I think it is a heroine-centric industry because 80 or 90 percent of the shows are female-centric. Even I am in a female-centric story, it revolves around Dhani and the widows but I am fortunate enough to get this role. I think this trend is directly proportionate to what the audiences desire to see. Our population still desire traditional and cultural concepts. I feel the TV industry caters to them. Once their demand, expectations and acceptance changes I think the TV industry will automatically think differently.
Ishq Ka Rang Safed' was in the news recently because its leading lady Eisha Singh was replaced by Sanjeeda Sheikh. What prompted it?
You will have to ask the production house.
How would you compare the rapport you share with Sanjeeda with what you shared with Eisha?
Eisha and I worked together for a year and we were quite accustomed to each other. When you work with the entire crew for a year, it becomes like a family. It's difficult for everybody to adjust if one member of the family is not there. But we are human beings and we adjust with the time and situation. Now that Sanjeeda has come, everything is back to normal.
How do you rate Sanjeeda Sheikh as an actress and as a colleague?
(after a thoughtful pause) 10 on 10.
How long do you think the show will continue?
That really depends on the TRPs and the channel. I think an actor is not in a position to speak on this issue. Last year, as many as eight shows started but six of them have already shut down. IKRS' is one of the two that is still going on - keeping in mind the time slot and the response of the masses of the country, our show is working.
Is it true you shifted from your South Bombay residence to the suburbs to be close to the sets?
Yeah! So that I can reach in time and be energetic too.
As you are big earner, are you a big spender too?
Yes, I am. I love spending, I love vacations. I love buying gifts for my friends and family. I just bought my mom a Mercedes B-class car. I like buying stuff for myself. I spend lots of money on myself.
Are you planning on taking up any reality shows?
It depends on the nature of the reality shows. I am picky. I will like to work on something which encourages child education or a show like Satyamev Jayate' which deals with social issues. I am not interested in reality shows centred around dancing.
Are you planning to marry anytime soon?
Marriage is not on the cards as of now.
loved his responses here,, very thoughtful n intelligent,, it seems he hasn't give up on IKRS still..😳
