FOUR WEEKS LATER
Location : KHURANA COTTAGE, MANALI
Maan and Geet were about to reach Khurana Cottage. Geet saw Khurana cottage peeking from in between the apple trees like a bride peeks through her translucent veil making the groom inquisitive to see what the veil hiding.
Geet fell in love with lush green trees ladden with apples waiting to be plucked.
The elegant cottage in white and bluish grey paint was looking very clean and pure with cool breeze blowing bringing nip in the air.
Since they left Delhi Geet refused to talk to Maan unless necessary. Dadimaa had insisted that Nakul also come with Maan and Geet. Where Maan and Geet flew from Delhi to Chandigarh on business class Nakul flew economy! From Chandigarh they drove to Manali taking umpteen breaks so Geet could stretch and use wash room as she was throwing up frequently. By the time they reached the cottage, Geet was exhausted having puked so many times. Partly due to motion sickness and partly due to pregnancy. Geet was feeling so weak that when she got out of the car she would have tripped and fallen had Maan not got her in time. Maan scooped her in his arm and carried her to their bedroom.When Maan put Geet on the bed she at once reacted, "Hum aapke saath akele iss kamre mei nahi sooyenge!" (I will not sleep with you alone in this room!)
"Tum humesha itna over react kyun karti ho? Aur mai tumhei iss kamre mei akele nahi chod sakta! Khair aao mera saath." (Why do you always over react? I cannot leave you alone in this room. Anyway, come with me.) Maan took Geet to a small study attached to the main bedroom with a super single bed there."Mai yahaan soonga!" (I'll sleep here!)
"Aap yahaan kaise soo sakte hain? Aap toh bade hain. Humara matlab hai ki aap lambe hain aap ko iss chhote palang mei soone mein takleef hogi! Hum chhote, toh hum yahaan aaram se soo jaayenge!" (Why do you want to sleep here? You are big? I mean you are tall you will have problem sleeping in this small bed. I'm small, I can easily fit in it!)
"Geet mujhe tumhare compassion mei koi interest nahi hai kewal tumhari sehat mei! Iss liye martyr hone ki zarurat nahi! Tum pregnant ho iss liye tum ko aur humare bacche ko aaram ki zarurat hai. Yeh bed comfortable nahi hai!" (Geet I'm not interested in your compassion, I'm only bothered about your health. So don't act like a martyr! You are pregnant and therefore you and our baby need comfort while sleeping. This bed is not comfortable!)
"Aap kabhi nahi badal sakhte!" (You can never change!) Geet huffed and pouted in anger and left for washroom. Bringing a mischievious smile on Maan's face seeing her cute pout.
As Geet was very tired she had an early dinner and went to bed by 08:30pm. A while later she woke up thirsty. She saw the wall clock it was 03:00am, she looked for water jug but could not find it. She was about to go down but thought to see where Maan is? Although she felt humiliated by Maan's act on the party night but the lover in her could not hold back from seeing her love. She quitely went to the adjacent room and saw Maan lying diagonally on the bed and was sleeping on his stomach topless!
His bare smooth muscular back was bringing memories Geet so wanted to forget, and his legs hanging out of the bed. Anyone looking at him could see how uncomfortable he was. Should she ask him to share the King size bed with her in the master bedroom? Will Maan get the wrong idea? Unable to stop herself she bent down and kissed away the frown which was due to discomfort of the bed. Frown that was rippling his otherwise smooth and broad forehead. Feeling the warmth of her kiss Maan relaxed and turned on his back bringing a gasp from Geet seeing his bare torso and low waisted track pants starting just above his hips. Before her wayward thoughts and emotions could distract Geet, she slowly went to the kitchen to get water. Once back in the room, her heart again led her to Maan in the room next door and found him sleeping as uncomfortably as before. Making up her mind Geet lightly shook Maan's shoulder. Maan did not wake up. Geet shook harder finally Maan woke up and with sleep filled eyes tried to focus. Seeing Geet he at once panicked,"Geet tum theek ho? Kahin baby..." (Geet are you alright? I hope baby...)
"Hum theek hain! Aap humare saath aaye!" (I'm fine. Please come with me.) Maan followed Geet and she stopped next to the bed in Master bedroom. "Aap yahaan soo sakte hain!" (You can sleep here!)
"Magar Geet tumhari tabiyat? Nahi mai..." (But your health? No I...)
"Ek minute!" (One minute!) Geet got cushions and made a divider in the centre of the bed."Aaj se hum yahaan(pointing to one side) aur aap wahaan sooyenge(pointing to other side)! Naa aap aur naa hum iss lakshman rekha ko laanghenge! Humari aap se viniti hai ki aap kriypa kapde pahenkar sooyegaa (pointing to Maan's topless torso!). Goodnight!
(From today, I'll sleep this side (pointing to one side) and you will sleep there (pointing to other side). Neither you will cross this dividing line, nor will I. I also request you to please dress decently (pointing to Maan's topless torso!). Goodnight!) Geet turned he back towards Maan and closed her eyes. After sometime she felt the otherside of bed dip and quilt being slightly pulled signifying that other side of bed has been occupied by Maan relaxing Geet and she fell into deep slumber, full day's exhaustion taking its toll on her body!
