Do you think ageism still exists in Bollywood, especially for female actresses? I mean it's great that mostly all our leading actresses today (Deepika, Katrina, Sonam, Priyanka, Vidya) are all in their 30s. That's a great sign. But do you think producers still question 'how young is this girl?' -
WHY am I bringing this topic up is because - I am a HUGE fan of Yami Gautam, I loved her in Vicky Donor & I remember googling her & seeing her wikipedia page and she was 27 when Vicky Donor released. I remember this very clearly - her birth year was 1983. Recently when I went to her wiki page again, it's been changed to 1988, meaning she's still 27 from the last 4/5 years.
Similarly with Aditi Rao Hyadri, she totally caught my attention in Delhi 6 when she played Sonam Kapoor's really beautiful bua. She was 31 in 2009. And now, she's 29. In the past, so much has been speculated about katrina kaif's age... Apparently even Shraddha & Govinda's daughter are supposed to be born in 1987 but they hide 1-2 years. God knows how 1-2 years can make a difference.
And I know wikipedia is hardly reliable but I'm sure their PR/social media team have been instructed to do the same.
As a fan, this hardly matters to me but are these girls still so much under pressure to be 'under 30' that they are constantly hiding their real age? Also, in your opinion do you think it's right?
