Astika himself said to vasuki that if arjun doesn't survive shanks attack then he is better off dead as he will clearly be of no use to him. Now that is what you call a bad father right there.

But somehow i feel if arjun died in an attack by shanks he would neither feel proud about shanks as he would be more disappointed if arjun died thinking the prophecy didn't come true, but if shanks was killed by arjun then astika may not care about shanks death and would rather be happy knowing that his faith in arjun's abilities came through. He doesn't give a damn about shanks and with arjun, the only reason he shows even the slightest bit of interest in him is solely because of the prophecy and takshak's belief in the prophecy that arjun can prove to be his ultimate weapon, otherwise he couldn't care less about either one of his sons. All he cares about is pleasing his one and true love, takshak.

What a lovely love story, right? 🤢 😆

I agree with you here! He is probably in love with Takshak that he doesn't really care about anything else including his own flesh and blood. I sometimes feel that he was pressured into marrying Mohini as he feels nothing for her. Usually Naga couples would die for each other but here it's like he doesn't care about her or his son through her.
