Actor Saif Ali Khan was rushed to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital on Saturday morning after he severely injured his thumb during a film shoot.

Khan is being looked after by a team of orthopaedic and plastic surgeons.

Saif's sister Soha Ali Khan confirmed the incident. "Bhai hurt his thumb while shooting, but timely medical attention was provided. His recovery process has already begun. Thank you all for your concerns and prayers." One of his treating doctors, plastic surgeon Dr Quazi Ahmad said that he cannot divulge any information about the treatment.

The actor is currently shooting for an untitled film directed by Akshat Verma under his home production.

This isn't the first time Khan has had a brush with injury. In April this year, Khan suffered a hand injury while shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj's Rangoon, a Casablanca-like love story set against the Second World War, in Arunachal Pradesh. In 2011, Khan suffered an injury while enacting an action scene on the sets of his home production Agent Vinod.
