The other day I was listening to the songs of Kalyug/ Gangster and was wondering why don't they make such angsty movies with awesome songs anymore, where I realized that we still have such movies in the form of A2 and Ek villian. Both have done terrific business but I don't seem to like them. What about you people? 😆 Do you think all these movies fall in the same category or there's a difference?

The first combo is definitely better .Both had superb stories to narrate..

Both A2 and EV were nothing to rave about with fine music being their only plus .A2 registers some impact mainly because of the tragic climax .EV was a mess ..

Gangster is an underrated classic. It had a very engaging plot with good actors. The music was simply awesome... it came in a year, 2006, that had many commendable movies and therefore didn't get the recognition it deserved.

This movie was such a huge hit in my friends circle. All of us used to discuss as to how unfair the things turned out for the lead charecters. And the songs were so good, remember buying a cassette for myself. 😳

Gangster is a good movie. Actually it is what you can consider has what we call" all time classic kind of vibe". Brilliant acting, good story and direction, great music and last but not the least it was a box office winner.

Kalyug not so much, although really liked Emraan's character in it, still better than Ek Villian shite.
A2 was too cheesy for me.
All four had great music with my fan being EV, Banjara is awesome.

Jiya Dhadak Dhadak Jaye >>> every other song, for me. It is my all time favorite song.
In terms of movies - I definitely think Gangster and Kalyug had more engaging and thoughtprovoking storylines. I think Kalyug dealt with a very serious issue of po*nography while I thought the tragedy in Gangster was simply heartbreaking. I was amazed Bollywood made a film like Gangster back then when I watched it 2-3 years again. However, I would say that A2 and EV had brilliant albums and also for me, they have more repeat value than say a Kalyug or Gangster - I have to want to be put in a certain mood to revisit those movies whereas EV and A2, while not all sunshine, is what I'd probably be able to watch without really being that moved (which sounds like a diss but I'm hoping you get what I mean 😆)

I loved Gangster and Kalyug. Their story was so engaging and thought provoking compared to A2 and EK which were predictable. The songs of Gangster and Kalyug were superb "Tu hi meri shab hai" "Jiya dhadak" and in Gangster I loved the Gangster rather than the Police. I feel bad that these days the movies have lost that essence which we had earlier. A2 and EK were good but not as much as Gangster and Kalyug.

@bold : I'm glad about it though. 😳 😆 Yeah, I agree. Whenever I want to watch these movies, I only end up revisiting the songs coz the movies despite being so good are a bit taxing. But with A2 and EV, watching them once was a big deal for me. It was hard to sit through these two films. 🤔 😆
