Sarbjit's collections are around 30 crore+ in India and it's still running in theatres in limited screens.

The film's budget was 23 crore, including publicity and promotions, and I am happy that the film, despite its depressing tone and mixed reviews has done fairly well.

More than anything, I am happy that Aishwarya, a 42 year old actress, carried the film on her shoulders and made it work at the box office, that too without depending on her core strengths like beauty or dancing.

It may not have been a huge blockbuster for whatever reasons, but I am happy that producers can no longer be afraid to invest in movies spearheaded by 40+ actresses. More power to them, and hopefully this will mean more offers to everyone who is "past their prime" as the industry once would cruelly sideline them.

I would love to have Sridevi, Madhuri, Kajol, Manisha, Juhi, Sonali and other actresses work like before in a parallel industry to the mainstream one. There are so many stories about 35+ women waiting to be told.. hopefully writers and producers create content which would highlight their lives, and hopefully they would not be relegated only to some saas-bahu serials on TV.

Wow in that case, Sonam should be more applauded. No? She went out of her comfort zone, acted well for first time and shouldered the entire film to a blockbuster. Sonam was right isnt she? She is an icon at this age itself.👏

Sonam deserves to be appreciated for Neerja indeed, but that's totally irrelevant as far as this thread is concerned. 😊

The point I was making is 40+ actresses can indeed carry medium budget films on their shoulders.

Aww! Glad to see you melt towards folks like Kajol and Mads now after Ash delievered two duds back to back. But a note of precaution-after Mads delivered two duds she has been judging TV shows and rejecting films as she is only getting mummy roles to people not much younger than her. Best of luck to Ash!
PS: This entire thread reminds me Sarabjit's support party. 😆

Cannot think of any other comebacks of senior actresses which worked.
Aish's initial comebacks did not work, Sarbjit was decent but did not do as great as expected.

Why is Sonam here 🤔 Is she 40+?? ohh no she only looks 40+ 😆

Koimoi declared Sarbjit a PLUS in India, which means it recovered the budget and made profits. Rediff and SuperCinema declared it average.. I am happy about it.

P.S. I would really not mind the hating/bashing if it's rational and logical. :) All opinions are welcome.

I am glad Sarbjit is a success. It is always great to see woman-centric films do well. Hope Bollywood doesn't fear from casting 35+ or 40+ ladies in lead roles now.
