[Episode 78] June 1st, 2016- Shaan's asleep, practically in Rajni's lap, on their bed...Awww! Amrish comes in, sees them, and quickly turns around. LOL, what did he do that for? He looks so awkward at first, before Rajni tells him that Shaan is sleeping! What a baby Shaan is, haha. I love how he rolls off of Rajni's lap, almost kicks Amrish, and then ends up rolling back into Rajni's lap before finally settling down again.
- Rajni stays in that same position, supporting Shaan's body, for 3 hours or so...just so that he is able to sleep properly. When he does wake up, he blinks groggily, realizes that Rajni's with him, and reaches up to touch her cheek. "Hey! Tum theek ho?" Aww, my heart! They echo each other's language in this bit, Shaan even gives Rajni a thumbs-up like she always does, and I find that so sweet! I wish we could've seen the part where Rajni carefully takes Shaan's glasses off so that he'll sleep more peacefully...but these two are so adorable anyway, and this scene is so lovely!
- "Oh, Rajni! Tumhe pata hai, aaj mujhe ek minute ke liye laga ki main tumhe sach-much kho doonga. I was so scared." Rajni, ever rational, asks Shaan how he would've saved her. By jumping onto the burning pyre? Because people do crazy things when they're in love. Shaan dismisses this, saying that she's a machine and "this is different." Different how, Shaan? "Agar pyaar nahi karte, toh kyun bachaate?" Shaan flounders for a bit before replying. Rajni is an investment that needed to be saved. Rajni understands - investment...like a burning house. But there's a difference between a house and a home, isn't there? When Shaan starts to think of Rajni as a woman, as his wife, and not as a mere machine...then maybe she will be "home" for him...where he belongs.
- "Samajh gayi! Agar main jal jaati, toh aapko koi farak nahi padta! Kyunki aap mere jaisa hi ek naya robot bana dete. Am I right?" Shaan's FACE. Rajni looks down at him, smiling. Her logic is perfectly sound. As she speaks, his expression changes, his smile vanishes. As she gazes at him, awaiting an answer, he stares up at her, at a loss for words. That silence says what Shaan refuses to put into words. Loved Karan and Ridhima in this scene! Their comfort level, their expressions...beautiful! ❤️
- Dev manages to escape from Matthew's house thanks to some quick thinking and probably even quicker feet. He drops by Shaan-Rajni's room to warn them, but he has something else to say, too. Dev knows he's treading dangerous ground by even suggesting that Shaan should hand Rajni over to Matthew...That in itself is interesting, because Dev is thinking practically...and yet, he knows that Shaan, for all his talk of being logical and practical, is emotionally attached to Rajni. And that attachment was always going to make this investment delivery issue a problematic one. I don't think either Shaan or Dev foresaw that things would get this complicated...But I think it's going to get worse still...
- "Rajni jaisa robo tu doosra bana sakta hai! Lekin agar tera murder ho gaya, tu mar gaya, toh tu doosra kahan se aayega?! Ek hi baat hai!" "Haan, yaar, main jaanta hoon ek hi baat hai. I mean, technically ek hi baat hai doosra robot banaana, lekin doosra robot RAJNI nahi hoga! Ek baat nahi hogi, yaar. Rajni alag hai!" Dev has a point, logically speaking. Shaan could make another robot that has the same features and appearance as Rajni...but that robot would probably always be regarded by Shaan as a clone of Rajni's...HIS Rajni is the one he developed and interacted with for god knows how long, instilling data and values that reflect his own knowledge and moral code, most likely. There's a personal element to THIS Rajni, an emotional investment in her...There's part of Shantanu Kant in Rajni Kant's system.
- "Jaisa tum soch rahi ho, waisa kuch bhi nahi hai! Yeh alag matter hai!" As Shaan tells Rajni to snap out of whatever reverie mode she's falling into, her expression changes from pleased and a robot's equivalent of blushing to deadpan and annoyed. Love that split-second change in demeanor there, conveyed through her eyes, too! "Shaan. Aap confused hai. Mujhe bhi confuse kar denge. Humans!" Ridhima is such a pro at this! Such an amazing face.
- Meet Dev and Shogata Bangdu, the newly (unwillingly and unhappily) married couple. I was looking forward to seeing them interact more, and thankfully they're getting scenes together now! LOL, Rajni's "Awww. Dono pyaar mein gir pade!" is hilarious. But even better than that is the way Dev-Shogu simultaneously turn to look at each other and yell before hoisting themselves out of that armchair! I loved watching that in the BTS vid (loved their happy hi-five when they finally got it, too, haha) and I'm SO glad they kept that bit! Neel-Neha are so fun to watch, and they nailed it! I am not a big fan of hate-to-love, nok-jhok type love stories, but these two are fabulous! They've got their own random stuff going on even while others are the main focus in a shot, and I end up focusing on them just like I do whenever Karan-Ridhima keep their interactions going when they're not in focus in the frame. And bonus points for Dev-Shogu wearing the same color palette today, haha! "Paani lene aaya tha, gaali khaake jaa raha hoon!" #PoorDev
- Amrish/Rajni conversations are always ones that I look out for, because Amrish's words of wisdom are so well-presented every single time! "Tujhe iss ghar mein waapas laane mein, na, Shaan ka bahut vadda haath hai! Uska pyaar khainch ke laaya iss ghar de waapas! Woh tujhse bahut pyaar karta hai, bachche." Oh, and I love the music in this scene, too! "Bauji. Shaan ne mujhe kaha woh mujhse pyaar nahi karte." Rajni looks on as Amrish bursts out laughing. "Woh SHAAN hai, puttar! Woh bewakoof scientist haiga! Aur yeh aaj ki baat nahi hai. Woh bachpan se hi aisa hai. Sab kuch andar, andar, andar...Jo aise bande hote hai na, puttar ji, woh apna pyaar, apne jazbaat jo hai na, woh logon ke saamne nahi rakhte hote." And this scene just catapulted to the top of my list of favorite Amrish/Rajni/Shaan scenes! I LOVE how this oh-so-brief conversation between Rajni and her Bauji sheds a bit more light on Shaan's personality, how he bottles up his emotions, buries them deep within himself, and isn't demonstrative by nature. It's interesting, because based on what we've seen of Shaan so far, I've sometimes felt that Shaan internalizes his feelings for the sake of being rational...but when those emotions build up and break free, there's no filter. At least that's what seems to happen when he's angry. I wonder if his love is the same way? Rajni listens so intently to what Amrish tells her about Shaan...I love how we can see her processing this new information - she absorbs it and doesn't say a word, she just mechanically moves to begin preparing food for Shaan. It's her way of showing that she cares, even though she probably wouldn't put it that way herself. It's her way of taking care of him. Just like he takes care of her.
- "Shaan! Saare important documents, blueprints, aur saare chips ek aisi khufiya jagah pe chhupaaye ki main bhi nahi dhoondh sakta!" What...? Dev, seriously? "What." They're all losing it. Dev knows where the stuff is, at least. He means Matthew won't be able to find it all. Thank god they moved Rajni's files and chips out of the lab! But an unsuspecting Rajni goes into the lab...and she's in there as the floor catches on fire. Damn it, Shaan! I knew the layout of that lab wasn't safe! Dude, what happened to safety protocols?! How the hell is Rajni going to get out of there without damaging herself or hurting Shaan in the process?! I loved the foreshadowing from the first scene of the episode, by the way...Rajni and Shaan were talking about investments and saving a burning house, both of which metaphorically referred to Rajni herself...Dev pointed out that Shaan could build another robot if something ever happened to Rajni. But Shaan won't let that happen. Rajni is too precious to him.
