I think maybe Shaan kept the sari as a memento, and Surili knew about it so she stole it from him.

Also agree on the fact that if Shaan told Rajni the whole story, no reason to hide her appearance.

I think for me the biggest reason is that everytime Shaan looks at Rajni, he's always thinking how beautiful and hot she is, and how he didn't realise she would become this hot. If she looked like his girlfriend, he would be more used to her face and probably would have accidentally called her by his gf's name?

I really really hope the GF does not look like Rajni, because if the same actress plays his GF, there's a high chance Shaan will end up with her (so that audiences can still see Karan-Riddhima chemistry) instead of with Rajni...
