no I don't defend his dialogues.. They are crass and need to vanish yesterday..
Having said that the portrayal of Raman's emotions is not uncharacteristic. Please read through abd we can always debate on disagreement in a healthy way.Why is Raman acting the way that he's now? Ishita left him 7 years back. And Her things and Shagun has been around him since then. Why hasn't he gotten rid of the former till now and why hadn't he got married to latter all these years... As we have seen proposal was put forward to him by his family, Shagun seemed ready ( based on her subsequent monologue and her negative reaction to Raman trying to get her hitched to someone else) .. But he had a vehement No... And held his ground ... Until Now .Why? What has changed?Ishita is back in Delhi .. Alive ... But but .. She kept them in dark about being alive for 7 years and more importantly she has a 'Amma' calling beti in tow and her best buddy who had once made him feel how inferior he was to him and she has been living with them for past 7 years ... She looks good and appears to be indifferent to his taunts/anger. Has she moved on and away from him? For good? And here he was on the other hand ... Still stuck in his own time warp of the day he thought he had forced her to commit suicide... The day he lost Ruhi and Ishita...the day that changed his life for ever. The day he lost one person in the world who was his sounding board, his biggest support system.. His strength.. The woman who got him back to be a father, husband and son. He lost part of himself that day... The only positive thing he has done since then was to nurture Ishita's legacy: her biological child, Pihu to have everything. If you look at the post leap scenes till now.. Raman has been emotionally estranged from everyone in his family including Adi.. He's still the guy who stands up for his family ... But other than that.. It was back to Raman Bhalla trapped inside a cold-exterior RKB.So effectively all his lashing out are him seeking some reaction from Ishita , some reasoning from her to 'ditching' ( from his pov) him and their kids for all these time... For appearing so 'normal' when nothing has been normal in his life since that day. his first few minutes outside the police station is the only glance of what's inside him: he was incredulously happy, grateful on finding her alive ... And then reality set in... And RKB emerged ..The one who strikes. Now I wait for Ishita JKR Bhalla to re-emerge.
The most complex and misunderstood character is Yeh hai Mohabbatein's Raman Kumar Bhalla. He has never been understood by his own loved ones, that's what he had been repeatedly dealt with. His ex-wife, parents, siblings, kids and the one person he never thought would misunderstand him or mistake him. He is not the same Raman he was before his first marriage. It had changed the very person he was. Like habit remains, the Raman or should I say Happy in Toshiji's words is still there somewhere in him. He fights with his inner Happy(Raman) and the Raman he has changed into. He has repeatedly shown that he doesn't know to show or express love. That's what people made him believe and they believe themselves too. This man can only and only be opened up to love, a man who understands only love. How can people expect him not to know how to express the same. His gestures speaks how an expressive person he is. He doesn't care about rest of the World, but only people whom he loves. His life revolves around his family and their happiness. He tries to play a pawn to everyone's happiness. He reacts when he is not understood by his loved ones. He does the unexpected to get their eyes laid on him. He wants to be the center of their life he lives for. He doesn't have it in him to face this World without his loved ones, he cannot imagine his life without his loved ones...But, fortune has always played its role in making him feel lone. When you aren't with your soulmate by your side, nothing interests you anymore. He is not accepted the way he is now, everyone expects him to be happy and when he becomes happy something always pull him back to be the new Raman he built him too.
Ishita was one person he expected will never leave him no matter what. Yes, he is a person who reacts to the situation without thinking about others but the one person he lost. His daughter, the daughter once he abandoned from fatherly love, the same daughter who bought his soulmate into his life, the same daughter who made him feel complete as a family, the same daughter who made him his favourite person when he wasn't even expressive, the same daughter for whom or just for the sake of her custody who married a person he was least interested in. He believed when he saw the scene unearthing in front of his eyes, his daughter burning in a car blast. The helplessness as a father of not saving a daughter is something only a father can understand. The failure that he once again came across as an individual, as an father, which led both his children to suffer, The questions which haunted him seeing his son in the mercy of a Psychiatrist, the same father who failed his son many years before, he couldn't fight for, the helplessness he left, the capability that always questioned him. Is he capable of taking care of his loved ones? That left him completely with the new Raman he became after his unsuccessful marriage or should I say the father who couldn't gather much courage to fight for his son or daughter. He once again couldn't do anything in saving his daughter and his Ishita saw the same and had confided in a police than the father of the kids. He couldn't take the fact that his wife didn't support him or his decision. The one person who has supported him all through with his son, with his family, with his siblings, with his business and the most important person he just loss because he isn't capable enough as a father, his daughter, his Ruhi.
Words sometimes does bother when it comes from the most loved person, I do understand Ishita's plight and decision but Raman's anger, helplessness, failures is showing all of that is on himself, it's all about him... He never expected Ishita to not support when he was broken than he was ever in his life or probably he will ever be.
From, Ishita's point of view what she did was what I as a person would have done too, Commit suicide. She is lifeless, doesn't have a life other when that life doesn't include Ruhi and Raman, who were soul of her life when it started and for whom it started at the first place. A person who is wishing to die because she is bad omen, who wants to be away from her loved ones to keep away the bad omen. How can people expect a person who is wishing to die to be in a very thinking state of mind. She was saved by someone, who lost his legs while saving her which made her believe strongly that she is indeed a bad omen. How can someone expect a person to return to her family only to have them experience the misfortune that she would carry. She as a mother thought, her son and the new born daughter would have a better life, if she doesn't instill the bad omen she carries in their lives. May be her parents will be at peace, by not seeing her daughter in a lifeless life. That's more torturous than actually seeing a dead daughter. This is something my mother told me one day. Parents can never tolerate their child or children in a lifeless state.
I don't know what I wrote above made sense or not. But, just my insight to the show or the two characters, I have been loving since the start of the show. The aren't wrong in their own way, they aren't right in their own eyes probably.

I have no sympathy for any of them , both are absolute shame on the name of wife and husband , lovers , and mostly parents ... Nope I have no sympathy for Raman or Ishita at all.the most unrealistic characters who were once quite real .
