CHAPTER 21. I LOVE HER! I LOVE HER NOT!
"What? What kind of rubbish are you spewing? Are you out of your mind?", Maan snarled as he glared at his younger brother.
The said younger brother aka Dev, seated on the nearby chair casually, simply smirked, "Nope! You know I am right!"
"Oh shut up! You are talking nonsense! I do not have any feelings for that waitress!", Maan spat as he paced the length of his study room.
"Blah! Blah! Blah! Deny all you want! But I know the truth!", Dev replied in a singsong voice and sent a grin to his older brother. It was the morning of the party and Dev and Maan were arguing in the study room.
"Rubbish! All rubbish! Why would I want to fall in love with a girl? Why?", Maan continued to pace, "No! I am and will be a bachelor forever!"
"Bachelor?", Dev looked at him surprised, "Who said anything about bachelor?", Dev grinned widely, "I am only saying that you fell in love. You are the one who is talking about remaining a bachelor! Not remaining bachelor means marrying! Wait! But I never said anything about marriage? Bro! I spoke about love, you jumped to marriage! That means you are thinking about marriage! Does that mean..."
"Shut up! Just shut up!", Maan growled at his brother, "Don't try to twist my own words against me! What do you think will happen after love? Marriage! Aur kya! And then there will be a woman entering my life and creating chaos!"
"Bro! Its not like that! If you love a girl, life won't be that bad!", Dev protested.
"Yeah right! What do you know?", Maan retorted and Dev pouted.
"I tell you Dev", Maan explained, "I tell you Dev, I am a normal man!
All I want to do is live my life the way I want!
I want to do what is best for me,
All I want is happiness for me!
Then how can I let love into my life?
Because, remember my dear brother, love brings wife!
And then my life will never remain the same
Because what woman would stay away from changing everything but my name!
One day the curtain, one day the couch,
And then all I will remain a money providing pouch!
Now you tell me why should I fall in love?
Love is nothing but a menace in front of whom I refuse to bow!"
"But Brother!", Dev got up from his seat and faced Maan, "Love is not bad!
You think
so, it makes me sad!
Imagine a woman entering your life
You decide whether you want to imagine her as your lover or your wife!
By nagging you constantly she makes sure you eat on time
Oh! Is your head paining? She gives you a glass full of sherbet made of lime!
Imagine someone taking care of you
A woman that is solely devoted to you!"
As Dev spoke, Maan remembered the way Geet made sure he had dinner on time. He smiled as he imagined her making him juice because he was feeling tired. Dev continued to speak,
"Love is not as bad as you think.
It is not a poison that you had to drink
It is cure for the loneliness in your life!
I tell you, life is boring without a wife!"
"I refuse!", Maan snarled as he vanished the images from his brain, "I refuse to believe in love!
In front of it, I will never bow!
All she will do is dress up and giggle nonstop
Annoying will be her chatter, which I would not be able to stop
She will ask me for expensive things
And expect me to buy anything and everything
I would rather face ten men wielding knives
Because as far as I know they are better than wives!"
"But Geet is not like that!", Dev piped in and Maan looked at him in shock. Dev continued.
"Yes Bro! Geet is not like that!
She is not a spoiled brat!
She may chatter a little,
But she will never torture you like that!
Expensive gifts mean nothing to her,
And neither do dressing up
A simple life is what she prefers
She is your tea of cup!"
"You mean cup of tea!", Maan interrupted.
"It does not rhyme Bro!", Dev replied and Maan slapped his forehead.
Dev continued, "With her life will be a bliss
Where every evening you will long for her kiss
Where day and night will blend into one
And Let me tell you, she will be your one and done!
So let go of your inhibitions
And allow your heart to fly,
Because if you did not make your move
There are other gentlemen waiting to try!"
"Enough!", Maan spat, "You cannot sway me so easily!
I have been listening to you patiently
But you are trying my patience now,
By trying to make me believe in love!
Woman in your life
Is like plunging in a knife!
Peace is what she will make you crave,
She will make you rant and rave!
Let others try their hand at love,
But Maan Singh Khurana will never bow!"
"Ok! As you wish!", Dev shrugged and Maan looked at Dev in shock. He did not expect Dev to give in so easily. He was disappointed that Dev did not fight more. But why am I disappointed? I should be happy that Dev let go of this annoying love topic! Then why I am not happy? Before Maan could think more, Dev spoke up. Maan did not notice the mischief in his younger brother's eyes.
"As you wish Bro,
thank you for letting her go
She is beautiful enough
And she is mentally tough
Better than the socialite bore
She is what I wish for and more
Now I will take my chance with her
Maybe we might get together
Get ready Bro because pretty soon, you will find
A Wedding Invitation with Dev and Geet in mind
I will make her my Queen and she will rule my heart
You remain a lonely bachelor while I become her sweetheart!"
"Never!", Maan roared as he grabbed Dev's collar and pulled him close.
"I deny you to come near her!"
"Why?"
"Because I LOVE HER!"
Maan stumbled back in shock as his hands unclenched. Dev straightened in collar and grinned eagerly. I did it! I made him jealous enough that he accepted his love! Yes! Dev beta you are awesome!
"And the truth is out!", Dev loudly announced.
"And the truth is out!
Please Bro
dont pout!
Falling in love is not so bad!
It is time to be glad!"
"I love her!", Maan mumbled in shock. He stumbled out of the room and walked away still in daze.
"Oh dear!
I think I broke my brother!", Dev mumbled worriedly. Then after few seconds of thinking, he shook his head, "Na! He will be fine by the evening!"
Dev walked away singing the song, "Wah wah Raamji! Jodi kya banaayi! Bhaiyya aur Bhabhi ko! Badhai ho Badhai!"
Neither men knew that behind the nearby pillar a girl stood
listening to everything that happened in the room. Maan loves me? Hey Babaji!
Hello people!
I know the update is short!
But what else can I do milord?
Writing poem is not a piece of cake
Especially when there are two men doing give and take!
Maan and Dev arguing is normally not easy to write
Add in the poetry writing style, and this writer is left with no fight!
Tired as I am, I am also eager to hear
Kaisa laga mera poem? Let me know dear!
The rant by Maan in the update is actually inspired by the original rant by Henry Higgins in the movie. He sings a song about how letting a woman in your life can create chaos! In the movie, it happens in the start but here I added it later, as I thought it was better suited for Maan being in denial before he accepts his love!
Next update, it is party time!
Geet's emotions over the surprising confession will also be shown!
And of course, a romantic dance toh banta hai Boss!
Thank you, take care and have fun,
Kalpana
