| Salman Khan Lucknow, April 12: Sultan, the Salman Khan-starrer, may have glimpses of the Muzaffarnagar riots. The actor is scheduled to start shooting soon in Muzaffarnagar, where riots erupted in August 2013 after the molestation of a college girl in the Kawal area led to the murder of a youth from the minority community and the lynching of two Jats. "Salman and the film crew will camp in Meerut and shoot their movie in Muzaffarnagar from April 19. Our job is to ensure enough security for him and his team. We have asked the officers to take every possible measure for hurdle-free shooting," said Madan Chauhan, the minister of state for entertainment tax. The riots had left 60 people dead and over 50,000 families homeless. There are still about 5,000 families who fear returning to their villages. It is unclear which aspect of the riots director Ali Abbas Zafar proposes to include in Sultan, in which Salman plays Sultan Ali Khan, a Haryana-based wrestler with a turbulent professional and personal life. Anushka Sharma plays the female lead in the film. A part of the shoot will be held in a farmhouse in Shukratal area of the district. The Justice Vishnu Sahai Commission report on the riots, submitted in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly recently, had given a clean chit to the Akhilesh Yadav regime. But it had indicated that communal violence spread in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts because of the lackadaisical approach of some officers. Government sources claimed chief minister Akhilesh was personally in touch with Salman and anxious to find out how the Aditya Chopra production proposed to portray the riots. "The anxiety was expected because some members of the team recently visited Kawal area to find out whether it would be safe for Salman to shoot there," an officer said. A hotel in Meerut, 60km from Muzaffarnagar, has been booked for Salman and the film crew. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1160413/jsp/nation/story_79904.jsp#.Vw5-QzEs2So |
