What movie mogul J P Dutta could not do, ad filmmakers Kailash and Aarti Surendrath have managed to do — bring Rishi Kapoor's family together, even if only to make a short film promoting safe sex.
The film was shot on Thursday. Young Ranbir said, tongue firmly in cheek, "To stand up there with two of my favourite actors felt more odd than emotional, and never mind if they're my parents. Mom didn't have much to say or do. But Dad, whom I'm completely in awe of, had to address me directly in the ad. Going by my nervousness, I wonder if I'll ever be able to do a full-length film with him!" Some time ago, Dutta had suggested a film bringing the three Kapoors together. The project didn't work out. What Ranbir wouldn't mind doing is a remake of one of his father's films. And his chosen one is Nasir Husain's Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai.
"I don't know why I like this film in my father's repertoire the most. It had great songs and stage performances by Dad and fab music by R D Burman. But it wasn't as successful as Dad's other collaboration with Nasir Husainsaab, Hum Kissi Se Kum Nahin . However, I'd never dare venture into something that has been done as successfully as Karz ."
