I want to write a super long post about today's episode but I'm a little stressed for time right now so this is going to be relatively short (or so I think lets see)
Full disclosure I didn't see the first scene where Twinkle is abused by the so called social workers because I don't think I have the courage in me to actually see the scene play out. I might see it later on tonight while I hold my hubby's hand on one side and a big tub of ice cream on the other but not now and definitely not without ice cream.
The episode belonged to the women! It showcased how the animosity between the Taneja's and the Luthras is now being fought on the battlefield by two generations.
First Leela vs. Anitha: Anitha saw Leela completely broken, on her knees begging, admitting that Anitha had won this war and she had lost. But Anitha being the foolish pesudo victor instead of celebrating her win and leave the battlefeild chose to provoke a fallen foe. What Anitha didn't realize is that people who think they have lost everything are more dangerous because they have nothing to lose. Leela has held her emotions in check since Mahi died, but today Anitha poked and provoked until the dam holding back her emotions finally broke free and she manifested her rage physically (I counted 5 slaps you guys!). And she was completely justified in doing so. I am not one to condone physical violence usually, but today i cheered on as i saw Leela give Anitha her just desserts. Even Bebe and Usha must have thought so because they didn't protest much as slap after slap rang out against Anitha's cheeks. As Bebe pointed out everyone knows Anitha's truth and there is nothing that can be done to redeem her of her sins. These slaps are just a small measure of the justice that is yet to be served. They say when you threaten a cub there is no other being on earth who is more dangerous than its mother and thats exactly what we saw today. Anitha wounded a tiger cub and now the mother is out for blood.
Moving on to the wounded tigress herself, she proved that she is her mother's daughter. She was shaken by her ordeal but she wasn't defeated. In fact, she harnessed all that had happened to her to come out fighting stronger and harder. The scene between Anitha and Twinkle was so powerful. Twinkle has always given Anitha the respect she deserved as an elder member of the Sarna household, but today without any words being uttered she put Anitha on notice that things were about to change drastically. That look of sheer ferociousness she shot Anitha was no less than a call to war. She isn't concerned with keeping the peace in their home, nor she is waiting for them to make a move. Twinkle has been playing defense all this while, she is now going to go on the offense. She was calling her enemy out into the open and challenging him right then and there. She is no coward like Yuvraj or Anitha who scheme in the shadows, she will fight you in the light of day because she knows her cause is true and just.
The face off between Yuvi and Twinkle has been a long time coming. Yuvi has tormented this woman so much he expected her to be a broken shell of a person. He is even surprised to seeing her standing in front of him with fire in her eyes. By slapping him into the mud she has proved that any last shred of restraint she might have had when it came to Yuvi whether it be because of Mahi or because of their shared past has ended. She will not stop and will not rest till until she has brought his truth to the world and shamed him like he and his mother have shamed her. She promises him this as Twinkle Kunj Sarna because Kunj is part of her identity now. She knows without a shadow of a doubt in her mind that her husband, the man she loves and the one who loves her, will support her in this crusade no matter what.
Goddess Durga was an incarnation of the divine mother because Mahishasura underestimated the power of a woman. And this is tale is being mirrored in this story as well. Yuvraj has always thought of women as a means to an end. With Twinkle and Mahi it was to fulfill his mother's revenge and with his other one night stands it was to fulfill his carnal needs. He has never thought of them as equals much less as adversaries that may potentially defeat him. But like many foolish men he has met someone who isn't only his match but superior to him in Twinkle.
I love that they had Twinkle wear the same clothes throughout the episode, with the stains and all. For me, it meant that she has seen the depths that Yuvraj and Anitha are willing to sink to and even then she isn't afraid of fighting back.
Special mention: Mr.Kunj Sarna who promised his wife that he would do anything and everything to make sure the Luthras paid for what they did to Twinkle but during her confrontation with Yuvi he chose to stand silently by. He knows of his wife's capabilities and he is confident she can handle it all by herself. And yet in the end he walks over quietly to embrace her to drive home the point to Yuvraj that Twinkle and Kunj are one. This might be her fight but he is going to right along side her every step of the way.
This episode to me really brought the story back full circle. The show has always been Luthras vs. Tanejas and now we are back where we started. The only difference is Twinkle is now an active soldier in this war whereas when we started she was hoping to broker peace to salvage her relationship. But now that the mist has cleared from her eyes she is full geared up for battle and the Luthras don't stand a chance.
(I loved that while everyone else was shocked by Twinkle slapping Yuvi, Bebe was like this :
