Deepawali Aayi Re
Beams, Rs.99
Five young singers welcome the festival with a fresh offering of songs that have a traditional, yet fiesty flavour. Arpita Mukherjee, Vishal Kothari, Sandeep Batraa, ex-Indian Idol contestant Meenal Jain and Kavita Soni have put together a delightful CD of seven songs, each of which is refreshing in its simplicity and youthful zest. Deepawali and Happy Diwali are colourful group songs that bring out the true spirit of the festive season.
Meenal Jain's voice is captivating in Nayi Subah, while Vishal Kothari sings Honsla with maturity and flair. The other songs are Duhaee, sung by Aripta Mukherjee, Sunle Yaara by Sandeep Batraa and Umeed by Kavita Soni. The lyrics are sensible as well as sensitive. Technicalities don't seem to matter as one celebratory tune after another takes you to a different level. Some tunes might sound familiar, but the new talent more than makes up for it.
This album, which makes for a welcome change from the same old sangeet, should appeal to one and all. And at Rs.99 one could easily tag it along with other festive purchases.

New Delhi Nov 8, 2007: Beams brought an exclusive theme based album to add a musical flavor to Deepawali this year. Deepawali is one of the most important festivals of India. It is known as Diwali in North India, which means festival of lights. It is a joyful day on which people exchange sweets, greetings and gifts with each other. The home environment will be luminous by arranging the lights and burning the crackers. Album "Deepawali Aayi re" is a compilation of seven songs, sung by the flourishing singers who were elected and filtered by the eminent personalities of music industry through Fame Gurukul, Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa etc.
An exclusive gathering was arranged by Graphisads at Tivoli Garden recently to launch this unique album. This album was launched in the gracious presence of Hon'ble Assembly Speaker Choudhry Prem Singh and host of the launch party Mukesh Gupta. On this occasion Arpita Mukherjee, Meenal Jain, Kavita Soni, Vishal Kothari and Sandeep Batraa performed on their collective song 'Deepawali Aayi Re' written by Kumaar; music to this song is composed by Santosh Nair. India is a country where we can see different cultures and traditions, and also different festivals. Deepawali has a special importance & almost every state celebrates this festival. Apart from Hindi, Deepawali has been described in Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali, Gujrati, & English languages in this song.
Album starts with song ?Deepawali Aayi re'; all the five singers rendered their voice in this special song. This song is also pictured as a video which is already on air. Second song ?Honsla' in Vishal Kothari's voice, for which music is arranged and composed by Rahul Saxena & Harpreet. Listeners can hear Vishal in Sohail Khan's film 'Raakh' very shortly. Vishal Kothari is the finalist of Indian Idol 1. Album continues with song 'Nayi Subha', to which Meenal Jain has rendered her sweet voice. Lyrics to this song are written by Raj Sangha. Meenal Jain is the contestant of Indian Idol 2, and has already bagged an opportunity in the music world by singing the title song of Ramgopal Verma's film ?Go'. Meenal rendered her beautiful voice in her debut album 'Mehram'. Album continues with the song ?Happy Diwali', which is again a collective song by the five singers.
