Should someone be held accountable if they lead someone to suicide?
This is in regards, to the death of Pratyusha Banerjee. May she RIP, and this was a shocking news for all. Many, however, were suggesting tah there was foul play involved.

Later, it was revealed that there was no foul play.

However, supposedly her boyfriend used to beat her, mentally abuse her, was two-timing on her, and even slapped her really hard in the mall on the day of this incident.

Should he be held accountable morally and/or legally, if the things above are proved true?

Why was she continuing with such a boyfriend? 😕

As for your question, there are laws against aiding and abetting suicide in India.

what do you think are the chances that a person who commits suicide would not leave a suicide note behind? I find it strange that no such note was found in Pratyusha's case.
Not idea whether she was under depression or was it some foul play. Another thing I find ironical is that after a person dies we see so many people emerging to expressing sadness, shedding tears and singing praises of the departed person but where are they when the person was alive? If we know taht we had so many well wishers while living its possible that we may not need to think of taking the extreme step. Or is it all just a ritual to be followed post death

yes.. but emotional latching on to irresponsive mate and then committing suicide on count of betrayal doesn't constitute abettment...in other words playing with someones emotion is not right but its not legallyt wrong either... other than that its true...

What exactly would constitute abettment considering that people would have different threshold of tolerance and reaction to any situation?

I don't know why did she continue to live with him after all mental and physical torture? She was an independent girl and probably earning more than her bf.
Coming to question, it depends on situation, there are few immature people who can't handle simple rejection or failure, they end up giving their lives. A person who rejected shouldn't be responsible.

In this case, whatever updates media people have been providing, if everything is true, her bf deserves to be behind the bars for every physical and mental torture.

No doubt it was responsibility of pratyusha to walk out of relationship, but that guy had no right to torture or abuse her

The BF has been booked for the alleged physical torture and could get arrested once he is discharged from the hospital. The police may investigate whether it was murder or suicide but in case it gets proved that it wasnt a murder I was wondering how anyone could actually prove that someone "led" a person to commit suicide. after all it is well known that people react differently to pressure.

Somewhere I feel that pratyusha was murdered. One of her friends in the press conference said that she wanted to file a case against her boyfriend and she had an appointment with the lawyer on the day of her death.Pratyusha had talked about it to her friend the day before her death. Then why will she commit suicide?😕😲
Let's hope the truth comes out soon and this case doesn't turn out to be another Divya Bharti case which is still a mystery.
Regarding the TM's question, there is a law in india where people who are responsible for someone committing suicide can be punished.
