Shah Rukh Khan to be a Sikh in Imtiaz Ali's comedy-drama?

There's been plenty of buzz since a while that Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali will finally work on a project together. In the past, SRK has expressed his interest to work with the talented director who is known for films like Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and Tamasha.

While promoting Tamasha, Imtiaz finally revealed that he is working on a subject that will star Shah Rukh Khan in the lead; however it would be too early to comment on the same. It seems the director has finally locked the subject for his next film which will be unlike any other Imtiaz Ali film.

Reportedly, his next film will be a comedy drama where SRK will be seen essaying a Sikh character. A source close to Mumbai Mirror revealed,

The rumour mill has been abuzz for months that SRK will be teaming up with director Imtiaz Ali for his next film. Now as per reports in a daily, King Khan will be seen in the role of a sardar in the film and has begun prep to play up a Sikh character!

Ali's yet-to-be-titled comedy-drama is slated to roll after SRK's two upcoming releases hit screens and he wraps up Gauri Shinde's romance-drama with Alia Bhatt, Ali Zafar and Kunal Kapoor in Goa. Reportedly, Imtiaz, who is still finalizing the script, has set the film in London and Punjab.

"SRK will be seen as a turbaned tourist in the UK. His innocent interactions with the Britishers and his adventurous return to India form the premise of the film," said a source close to the newspaper.

This will be the first time that SRK will be seen in a turban. Earlier, he was seen donning the look for an ad shoot, way back in 2012 and in one of Daboo Ratnani's calendar shoots.

However, unlike his earlier releases as Love Aaj Kal, Jab We Met, Rockstar, Highway and Tamasha, romance is reportedly not the premise of Ali's film. "This is a comedy-drama," the source added.
