She is an Indian born. She was a well known model and worked in the movie Boom along with Katrina and Big B. She now host the American Reality TV series "Top Chef". Her TV show even won Emmy. But her presence in Indian media is almost non existent. Even Freida Pinto who was completely unknown before Slumdog Millionaire and had supporting role in it is more famous than her. Even while talking about Indian-origin actors on American TV & films, they take names of Mindy Kaling, Aziz Ansari, Kal Penn, Kunal Nayyar but never her.
It's not even like her life is less controversial. I mean she married and divorced one of India's most controversial person, Salman Rushdie AND borne a child out of wedlock whose paternity was a big question.
Currently she is in the news for her book Love, Loss and What We Ate but I hardly see any Indian media covering it.
