A question regarding IF membership..

Can somebody help me in knowing what is this friends list in IF?? I mean after having an account here we can post on any of the shows thread and discuss our thoughts with other members.. so what is the need of adding buddies/friends in here?? there are other things as well here like scrapbook, testimonials, slambook etc.. what are all these for? 😕
