I decided to take a look at this show after hearing about the sci-fi aspect of the premise, and because I was curious about Rajni...I caught up in a day, and I have to admit that I'm really enjoying the craziness so far! Shaan and Rajni are a riot!
I knew that Karan is a great actor with fabulous comic timing, but I'd never actually followed any of his shows until now. He has taken to the 'genius-yet-grounded scientist' role like a fish in water. His portrayal of Shaan is so endearing and I love how we've gotten to know a lot about his personality through his interactions with Rajni. Shaan's absolute dedication to Rajni is something that simultaneously warms my heart and intrigues me - she is his creation, but there are those instances where he doesn't treat her like a mere machine. He sometimes speaks as though she is a living, breathing being - "Main Rajni ko yoon marne nahi de sakta..." And so I am very curious to see how his view of Rajni develops as the show goes on.
I was so, so impressed with Ridhima's acting prowess in the first 3 episodes, and that only continues to grow each day! Her comic timing is superb, but there's something about the way she delivers Rajni's lines in serious scenes that particularly resonates with me. I remember watching the scene where Shaan drags Rajni to the trash heap and angrily tells her to go wherever she wants to...And then her eyes flicker open. That blank stare stirred up such strong emotions in me, and I was stunned. I think that is an incredible gift - to barely move one's face and eyes, and still be able to evoke emotions in people.
In casting Karan and Ridhima, I think the BHR team has struck gold. They are fantastic actors and they work so, so well together! I really enjoy their scenes because the contrast in their characters' natures comes across so neatly in their dialogue delivery and body language. And what a comfort level they share! Physically, Ridhima never lets the machine-like demeanor slip...Karan can steer her, drag her around, play with her hair, poke at her face, hug her - and Ridhima doesn't bat an eyelid! Kudos to these two, seriously!
I'm really looking forward to seeing how this hatke relationship progresses!
