Btw on one hand you guys don't wanna discredit or put down others, so why is Sonam's contribution, persistence and hard work ignored by giving the credit to her dad? After facing so many brick bats for her performances, she still continues and tries, that is tough. Imagine going on and on for years without getting much of an appreciation. That says something about her passion and persistence, doesn't it? Why petty reasons are being used to put down a good performance?

P.S: Not trolling at all, genuine discussion please... 😆

I loved her performance in Neerja, not putting that down that at all. I am also appreciative of the fact that she has been making an effort to do stronger women oriented roles too and has not taken up very many flowerpot roles in her career. But fact is she does get a lot of support from her father, maybe even more than any other star daughter in recent times, except what Alia gets from her adoptive father of course. DP or other non-film family actresses do not have that luxury unless they start producing themselves.

Anyways my comment was a specific response to the person who dismissed all of DP's hardwork and success by claiming its all a mirage created by her PR. Mine was a typical fan reaction made in the heat of the moment, take nothing from it😆

Trump may actually win and become our president.
And instead of crying over that fact I'm here arguing about Sonam and Deepika.
I'm done here.
Goodnight all. :)

@FP I agree with you on most points, that we should that is fans of female actors who are performing so well and taking the baton of women oriented roles ahead with each successive stellar performance, keep our differences aside and genuinely applaud them.
If you see, Sonam's performance as Neerja has actually not been put down by anyone not even DP fans but this thread is less about the two actors and more about the fanbases trying to bring each other down hiding behind their favourite actor. I don't know when and if ever this can stop since an attack on one's favourite is seen as an attack on oneself, and self-defence is a human tendency. A break from the forum is the only solution 😆

@FP,GS - Finally some sensible posts which are good to read through !
One thing I appreciate about the current of of Ladies are that they are continuously trying their best to choose good script and good movies. They are thriving for their own names in a male dominated industry. I'm glad to see thats paying off !! Audience deserves credit too so is the media - social media particularly to generate the right kind of WOM. Also the production houses are backing so called 'risky' small movies. Earlier women oriented films were touted as art house films which were presumed to be inadvertently slow, boring but with great performances. But movies like Neerja, Queen, Piku, TWMR, Kahani, EV, NH10 etc etc etc are having nice pace, full on entertainment and practical masalas. I wish someday they are seen as 'movies' only not a 'female oriented movie' ! I dont like that 33% reservation tag 😆

Also not every movie can reach every person..Not every performance can touch our heart alike...Some look for more nuance in the performance. Some are awed by the screen presence. Some look for other technical or functional aspects !
I am a fan of a star because I connect to his or her acting more than any other actors or stars. So if I find something exceptional as fan and the non fans are finding it good to very good then thats good enough for me. I can not charge people saying why dont you think this is exceptional why are you saying this is only good ! Thats really childish.
Anyway I have learnt to accept bashing is part of the forum but missing on a good movie because I dont like his/her previous acting is my loss only. 😆 I watched BB and was far from disappointed and now I saw Neerja. Had the same feeling.

Would Piku have worked commercially if it released today?

Back in the 2010s, all kinds of movies co-existed on the big screen. In fact, in 2012, there was a surfeit of mid-budget, content-driven films...
