Beep. Beep.
The steady beeping calmed her just as it maddened her.
Beep. Beep.
He lay there on the hospital bed, his head wrapped in a thick gauze.
Beep. Beep.
'Sharon!'
Beep. Beep.
All her fault, all her goddamn fault.
Beep. Beep.
She didn't deserve him, she never deserved him. She had stabbed him where it hurt the most and now he didn't want her. He told her he didn't want her. Why on earth did he jump in then? Why didn't he let the lightboard hit her, why did he push her away? Why was he lying in those sickeningly blue hospital clothes, his scent masked by the disinfectant? Why?
Beep. Beep.
To make her suffer, that's why. No, he loves her, that's why.
Beep. Beep.
She wanted to scream out loud, she wanted to embrace his lanky frame till he woke up, she wanted to kiss those pale lips and awaken him. All she did was sit by him, frozen, wondering what she had done to have this wonderful man in her life, wondering how he could love her enough to save her, after all she had done to him.
Beep. Beep.
'Smell the coffee Sharon, this is Swayam, your loverboy.'
Beep. Beep.
Her loverboy. She whimpered slightly as she remembered the pure love in his voice as he had said those words. Her loverboy; she wondered if he existed now.
Beep. Beep.
She cringed at the thought of it. He must love her even now, else why would he nearly sacrifice himself for her? For humanity's sake? You know how kind he is, a voice whispered in her ears. She shut her eyes and shook her head slightly, as tears stung the closed eyelids.
Beep. Beep.
No matter how he felt about her, she had still managed to hurt him. Again. She didn't want to, not anymore. He had had enough.
Beep. Beep.
'Swayam, I love you. Please come back.'
Beep. Beep.
'I promise to not hurt you anymore, I promise to stay away if that's what you want.'
Beep. Beep.
'Swayam.'
Beep. Beep. Beep Beep Beep
The machine beeped faster and she looked up, alarmed.
Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep
'Sharon.'
