The kings who were present in the swayamvar were there to take away a girl as token of their victory as they were ignorant of the value and the truth of the Shiv Dhanush. If they were least known about the strength of it, may be they would not have attended the same to face the failure. As they thought the girl (for them Sita was just a mere girl who will be given away by her father to anyone who strings the Bow) has no value or may be they thought Janak found an easy way to get rid of his adopted daughter so that he can think well for his own daughter. Hence they thought Janaki as a lust able product than a lady with wisdom and pride. So including Ravan, Sita was a bonus prize or complimentary gift given along with the Shiv Dhanush.

On contrast, Ram was not even aware of the fact that he may take part in Swayamvar as a participant as he had not received any instructions from his father in that line. All he thought was to obey his Guru and do whatever has been told by him without a countering question. His devotion to his Guru had made him victorious as it was not wanting to win but to fulfill his Guru's words and to uphold his first guru's teachings (Vashishta). For Ram thought it was his fortune to even touch the Shiva Dhanush and he respected it for its sacredness and never looked at it as a way to win a wife.

Ahankaar- There must be something called super- ahankaar when a devotee starts feeling he is greater than his god! 😆

The way Ravan went on about how Lord Shiva was 'lucky' to have him, Ravan as his devotee...and how it escalated the god's value in the 'market'...seriously??? Bordering on clownish behaviour...but I guess people look absolutely foolish as they fall in their pride, that they begin to look like clowns.😊

And I think this is being reiterated again and again !

While people like Ravana treat women like a possession, even other so called good and learned men treat women with a different yardstick as compared to men.

be it equal punishment for equal crimes like Tadaka or equal respect for equal status, as in the case of Mata Gargi, or equal commitment from both partners in a marriage - Ek patni vrat, or even equal empathy for mistakes, so if a man had committed a mistake, the society wouldn't shun him, so should a woman too not be shunned - like Mata Ahilya.

This equality of rules, behaviour and treatment for all people irrespective of their gender is what sets Rama apart from all other people, and not just from Ravana !
