Grand ceremony to invite problems

Today I totally liked the dialogues and the acting of Ravan. This is the second antagonist (next to late veteran actor M.N.Nambiar) who I liked to watch on the screen to hate. My appreciation to the actor (episode stealer) and CVs.

Coming to topic, if we just refresh our epics only those who had a lavish eye catching swayamvar faced extreme problems in their life.
I hereby mention the famous three
1. Sita swayamvar- The condition was the bridegroom should lift the Shiva dhanush inferring that Sita is precious and only who has the quality can have her as life partner.
2. Amba, Ambika and Ambalika- Though the swayamvar had no competition but avoiding hastinapur, invited the problem which in turn became the reason for bhishma end.
3. Draupadi- The woman from fire who led a life like a fire (pure) had a swayamvar with talent competition which brought an enemy on the spot karn. Though she married the King and his brothers, she was the only one who faced all problems in life.
So in a sense it means when people expose their wealth, beauty, talent and even the knowledge the enemies are created in the vicinity.

Note: Its my POV. No offense to anyone.

I think you have drawn very interesting parallels between the 3 swayamwars and these 3 had very dramatic impact on the lives of the brides for whom these were held!
Of course another swayamwar that comes to my mind is the swayamwar of Sanyukta where she garlanded the statue of prithviraj and then was whisked away by him right under the noses of her family which opposed their union

And about Ravaan. Indeed he was the show stealer today.
He is the perfect choice for Ravaan.

@Ramya ..that's an interesting inference and very well put...
We can also add damayanti from Mahabharata to it...

You made me think of ovaiyaar's athichoodi..

"Udaiyathu vilambel" don't boast as it might bring upon some jealousy or wrath from someone else..

We can also infer why Brahma vivah is held as high by vedic society where there is no expectation from the groom or the bride side only the mutual respect..

Yes, this is what I meant the parents especially father, the king exposed his status and brought problem for his daughter.
Not only in epics, even in our history it was followed and ur eg is a proof. There are certain history which often repeats. Lesson not yet learned by us.
